I mean, we all know Hasbro isn't going to say "IT'S DEAD." That would make people lose interest, stop buying stuff still on shelves, and basically kill any hope for the future.
They never said Modern Era was dead in the West. It's dead, though. And what's left is confined to Japan. That pretty much spells the end to me. Otherwise, it could be argued that the line hasn't ended since 1964. Semantics aside, they told us about both lines coming to a close. They haven't done that with o-ring.

Similarly to Marvel's Retro, they did 100% say it was coming to an end "for now", though, although the exact word used was "hiatus"...

They haven't done that with o-ring. Now, does that mean I think o-ring is coming back strong? Nope. I don't think the market's there for it, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they have something planned. Regardless, you news-junkies probably need to figure out how to enjoy what you already own instead of craving reveals of future shit to preorder.

I'm thinking we'll see o-ring figures show up every few years for some kind of retro or cemmorative-sets like the TRU stuff in the end of the 90s, the rumors that these new o-rings were test product for next year's huge mainstream release is very unlikely, I don't see the interest in them for the price they would need to be sold for, we need the casuals for the line to be successful but $20+ figures isn't going to pull them in

Yeah, Hasbro's established MO when killing a line is to say "hiatus" or something similar, and has been for a long time. Long enough to become a joke for nerds. They did it with o-ring figures in 2002, then again with 3.75" JvsC/VvsV in 2004/5, then with 4" ME multiple times. Same with other brands. It's what they do. They never gave a shit about "...people lose interest, stop buying stuff still on shelves, and basically kill any hope for the future." before. If something is over, it's over, and they say so.

People are going "Where are my new releases?" but everything but the Stinger just sat. IDK,I'm just a guy who plays with toys, but this can't look good to the beancounters. If anyone went O-ring crazy during the Warehouse Sale, they probably got one hell of a bargain on a Cobra army. |

This is what drives me nuts with the Joe marketing team. They get a lot of praise, sure, and have put out some great products of late. But for an in-house property their transparency is virtually nonexistent, which is a slap in the face to a fan base that has put years / decades into the brand.

I don't know you well enough to joke around with Bac, so I don't want you to take offense to this or think that I'm singling you out. But you just brought up a term that gets abused here too much by others. Nothing that Hasbro does is a "slap in the face" to us. They give us toys. Sure they might not get here a quickly as we want sometimes. But the 25th Anniversary was supposed to be 10 figures only. Then the first movie was supposed to be the death of the line. Then the second movie. Now Classified has their 100th figure on the way and grown men are turning complaining more and more every day about them despite how much better they are constantly getting. Anyone that finds themselves spending hours a week complaining about toys should sign off and go play with them instead. They aren't worth getting mad over, and we're not owed anything from Hasbro.
The only thing Hasbro has owed me so far is a missing wheel from my Skystriker fueler trailer, and they made good on it. (and sent me a whole new trailer to boot, huzzah) |

They're so above all this to notice or internalize they're complaining about complaining.

The fact that Hasbro now listens to fans (to an extent) has given some people the idea that they are owed something.

David Frost once remarked, "Television is an invention that permits you to be entertained in your living room by people you wouldn't have in your home." That's how I feel about this place. You all bring bizarre entertainment to my day, so I'd feel obliged to yell at you to get off my lawn. I'll now veer toward blasphemy by agreeing that this all about a bunch of toys, but really it's all about the nuts. Fans! The fans. Have a good weekend and don't get your O-rings, neck balls, mismatched elbows, or swivel arm battle grips in a bind ... and don't let your carrots stick.
