I'm out of the loop on these, did Boss Fight do the design work? Seems awfully Boss Fight-y, which is a good thing.

I have mentioned this before, but as this Kickstarter progresses to prototype stage, I'm curious of the necessary changes due to costs, tool & die, etc. For example, for us backers who have already seen the other digital images, there is already a slight difference between the 2D drawing and 3D model of the Green Beret's shirt. This isn't a complaint only an observation.
What I am most curious about is whether MJ will be able to maintain the different tiger-stripe camo patterns or if it will simply be the same pattern with a variation of coloring. As it stands, it looks like there are 4 different camo pattern/colors that will be available: Navy Seal - light green & black LRRP Soldier - light green & grey Green Beret - dark green & black ERDL Camo - green, tan, brown Again, I won't be disappointed if the 3 tiger stripe camo patterns are the same, but I am really hoping they are still able to make the three different tiger-stripe color variations. Throughout the campaign, I was really hoping they would offer the giraffe camo pattern, but the WW2 camo Marine is pretty close to this design. So, we should be able to customize some of these to fit in. Jason

My understanding is that the BFS guys are too busy with their own stuff to sub-contract for anybody any more; so I assume any similarities here are most likely due to MJ liking BFS' 'style' and telling the new digi-artist to work in their style. Since BFS did everything up to the mechsuit and doggo (correct me if I'm wrong on that, y'all), it'd be a bad idea on MJ's part to change the style that's gotten him so much success, imho.

Another observation/curiosity regards the actual sculpts versus the mock-up images. If you are a backer and have already seen the 3D digital model of the Green Beret, then you can tell that the 3D model bodies of the GB and Army Rifleman are identical except for the GB's sleeves are rolled higher.
So, already from the 2D mock-up to the 3D digital model there's a slight variation on the GB at least. Again, this is not a complaint, just an observation. Now, with the standard Army and SEAL/Marine soldiers (I'm not even discussing the Sailor & Pilots), there are some noticeable differences in the shirt designs: Army - angled/bloused pockets; Marine - straight/square pockets; SEAL - collar buttoned; LRRP/GB - collar buttoned no t-shirt. Again, the GB 3D model is now identical with the Army Rifleman - collar w/ t-shirt & angled/bloused pockets. I am curious; however, if the Marine/DI and SEAL 3D models will mimic the 2D mock-up shirt designs. On these, I really hope they do to add a bit more variety. Also, another quick observation from the revealed 3D models is that (similar to the 2D mock-ups) the Army and Marine figures look to have the same thighs & knees, but different calves/boots. For me, personally, the variety in sculpt on the tucked-in pants/legs is not as important as the variety in sculpt differences in the shirts. I love following this Kickstarter and seeing how it is progressing. I am probably over studying this one too much, but as someone born in the mid-70s during Vietnam, I remember growing up hearing about the 'Nam and seeing how the 'Nam military fatigues blended into much of the early '80s designs, which formed the foundation of the initial G.I. Joe designs. What your thoughts on the sculpt designs? Jason |

I'm still super-excited for these - while my exposure to Nam was only through movies and such, a lot of these are very iconic versions of troopers.
Only two problems: 1. I still never got around to actually setting up all of the WWII guys! I've got a couple done but I wasn't in a place to do that for a long time and now I'm waaaay behind. 2. Shit, I'm gonna need more display space. Classified taking over a couple of shelves is messing with the layout. |

Did they send this to a select few from the kickstarter. I haven't been getting updates then.

They released 4 renders in the last Kickstarter update. The Army rifleman and Marine 60 gunner renders were also released to the general public. I saw those two on their Facebook page.
