I'm making general assumptions with no data to back it up,
But I assume that most kids who had joes in the 80s aren't buying toys today. I also assume that brands like SW and transformers have added fans over the years, where as joe fans I assume are primarily still us 80s kids. Yet joe fans are still able to support a toy line like classified for several years. Even at reduced numbers with not much expansion, the original fan base still putting in the work.

I would assume most of Classified IS selling to us 80s kids who had the 3.75 figures.
The line is doing better the more "retro" looking it gets apparently - that sure as hell isn't young fans who want characters that look like they stepped out of the 1970s/80s. |

A Cannon G.I. Joe film during the '80's would have definitely had the potential to be one heck of an entertaining flick. Can't help but wonder who could have been in the cast for such a film? Joan Severance would have made a visually appealing Baroness. Don't know good she is with accents though. |

I had a huge Transformers collection as a kid, Inhumanoids, and two GI Joe figures--Zandar & Zarana. Not a Barbie among them!

Others have wondered the same:
https://www.bulletproofaction.com/20...g-i-joe-movie/ https://www.bulletproofaction.com/20...-movie-part-2/ Can't say I thought of Mathilda May as Baroness, but after seeing "Lifeforce", I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that bit of casting either! John P. Ryan as Cobra Commander is an interesting choice. It comes across like that the blogger is envisioning a ranting and maniacal CObra Commander for the film. I think William Dafoe might be a good choice if we're going with a similar approach, though perhaps William would have been considered too young for the part back then ... Being that characters being translated to the silver screen are often changed to some degree, I can slso envision someone like Rutger Hauer being good if we're going witha more creepy and subdued Cobra Commander (I'm thinking something more akin to how the faceless Blofeld was portrayed in the Eon Bond films). |
