Used DVDs and Blu-rays aren't really worth anything on the secondary market anymore. Even many Goodwill type stores and libraries have stopped accepting them as donations. A lot of people just throw them away when they decide they don't want them and need to clear out the space they were taking up.

Only issue there is something like D+ has the "rest of the story" that you can't get somewhere else.
So if a Star Wars fan or Marvel fan wants to enjoy the movies, they need to have a subscription to watch the shows. Especially because D+ stuff isn't released on media. (Paramount is still putting Trek series out on DVD, so they haven't given up. Makes sense with their lower numbers, and the fact that the shows are on free TV or cable in a lot of countries anyway) At least Disney can point to essential stuff that fans feel they need (as can HBO, since they've got four or five high-end appointment shows right now). Who the hell knows what Netflix can point to; the goth kids aren't going to wait for a new Wednesday series to come out and their bingewatch model certainly seems to be showing holes in comparison to everyone else's more traditional weekly-release model. |

I feel bad for people who can't stream. I generally work in low income areas and so many of the people I know can't afford streaming. And without a DVD/BD, they can't watch it.
I've noticed working in a well to do white neighborhood now, our DVDs barely go out. But in most of the minority areas I've worked in, DVDs went out a TON. |

I'm a bit worried about Dr. Who because we're always buying those DVDs. If it becomes D+ only, man, that would be a blow to many of the fans I know who just borrow our DVDs

lol I'll be sure to remember how evil Disney is while I'm partnering on philanthropic work with them even as we speak. Disney-hating nerds are ridiculous and maybe oughta get off their ass and do some volunteering instead of proclaiming what and who is "evil." They made your toys expensive though so they must be evil! They financed movies you don't like, they're so evil! They stood up against fascism and hate! Evil! Poor wittle babies. All companies beholden to shareholders do some shit none of us should like, but there are literally very few companies that do as much real good in the world as Disney. That's a fact, as is the fact that Disney still releases plenty on home video. Black Panther is coming out on the 7th, IIRC.

They aren't now educating their actors on how to be nice to China out of the kindness of their hearts. |
