So why take time out to make a video based on rumor and speculation? It seems to me that doing something like that is beneath Chris especially since he's a self proclaimed journalist and he could easily get confirmation on whether or not it's true. In my opinion once you've established your credibility and reputation in this sphere it's beneath the content creator to make videos because on rumors for the sole purpose of generating traffic to your page.

The Megatron H.I.S.S. Tank did come with it's driver. Stasi is H.I.S.S. Tank qualified. Anyway, the rumor is true. Chris McCleod confirmed on A Toy Kinda Mood that the next G.I. JOE/Transformers crossover will be Soundwave Thunder Machine with Zartan, Zarana and Ravage. I get and understand why Soundwave was picked but personally I think that Motormaster would have been a choice for the Thunder Machine. Go to 9:13 - 12:34 of the clip

Chris' job is to report on Joe news and even taking into account my aforementioned speculation, if there is Joe news to report on he's going to dip his toe. After all it's not like Chris took an official stance and there really is no "credibility" issue here as I see it. The drop in the bucket in the grander action figure landscape that is GI Joe certainly isn't going to ruin a reputation simply because this rumor proved unfounded.
But the Dragonfly generated enough of a murmur in the community so quickly, and had all the trappings of a plausible story (Hasbro using freelance designers, someone collaborating with one freelancer getting mad about payment). He's under no obligation to report on every rumor, but as this one took on a life of its own for the last few days, he would be remiss to not say anything about it.

Whether or not he works for Hasbro (a sound theory), his "job" is to report on Joe news, yes. If one random person (hi, me!) says "there's going to be an O-Ring Flagg released in 2023" on HISS Tank, he's not going to report on that. Garbage, unsubstantiated claim from a person with no rumor/leaking credibility. Ignore it and move on.

Right - "the rumor had legs" captures the essence as succinctly as anything.

So obviously in 86 there were a ton of scrap Trans Ams around, but now it's out of place. So if they were to build a new Thunder Machine (and this is completely hypothetical because I'm sure we'll get it just as it was), what front end would you want them to use? A modern Mustang, Charger or Challenger would be the most likely choice. Probably one from 10 years ago or so. A Viper would be the most appropriate choice, but might be too pricey for the Dreadnoks. I'd probably choose the Charger. Preferably a scrap Highway Patrol version.

Speaking of Thrasher, I know some people would like for him to come with "his" vehicle, but we've actually had several releases of him without the Thunder Machine. Most commonly, his "comic pack" with Buzzer and Ripper. That's the only one I have, but I look forward to pairing him with a "correct" ride. |

Anyway, Chris clearly couched the report with a GIANT grain of salt. This isn't like when they got the list of Classified figs around this time last year that I'm pretty sure he actually went to Hasbro and confirmed it before reporting it. |
