Rogue One was also pretty darn good!

Eh, it was a bit of bait-and-switch from the first half to the second, and if we're being honest, Smith's "hits" are more like lucky flukes. That said, IMHO, while the toys and comic still hold up, the old cartoon series aged like shit too though - even with nostalgia glasses. So there's not really a contrasting point to compare here.

No and it's one of the few movies where I would argue changing the characters race was a real detriment. I don't like race/gender swapping just to add more diversity... I think it's a hollow excuse and a way to avoid trying to create unique characters by people who lack creativity... but Snake Eyes was especially egregious, because having him as a white man brought in by a Japanese-American man and trained in his family's martial arts style is a good story of racial unity. And it's not even an example of "white saviour", because it is Storm Shadow that solves the mystery of the Hard Master's murder.
It had its moments. I've never been a big Teela fan, so having her as the lead was a bit annoying, although I'm glad they added Evil-Lyn as a co-lead and I thought she was great in the show. Andra coming out of no where and being promoted to the new Man-at-Arms at the end of the show was ridiculous, though. I also thought the show should have continued on from the 200X series, instead of the Filmation one (and it actually did, in its portrayal of Prince Adam). Haven't seen the former, as I am not a fan of Taika Waititi. Ragnarok had some good moments, but I didn't particularly enjoy the "Clownification" of Thor. Haven't seen the latter, either, but I haven't heard anything good about it. Even my wife, who went into the show with an open mind and who isn't a fanatic Tolkien fan, said it came off like poorly written fan-fiction. Rogue One and Mandalorian were both fantastic. Book of Boba Fett was terrible and Obi-Wan was disappointing. I haven't seen Andor, yet. Solo was also disappointing and seemed to make a big deal about very minor things, like how he got his last name and his blaster, as well as doing eye-rolling things, like putting the brain of that annoying droid, who is equally as annoying as Jar Jar Binks, into the Millennium Falcon. Also, I didn't like Donald Glover's portrayal as Lando. The way he was acted and written was pretty poor, in my opinion. The sequels... ugh... The Force Awakens, as derivative of the original film as it was, was still a good start and I had hope that they would be able to build on that and make the second two films more original and fantastic. Well... The Last Jedi was original, all right, but not fantastic. And Rise of Skywalker was just as bad. It was like watching two different films battle each other in a demolition derby. Disney clearly didn't have a roadmap in place for the trilogy, before they started, which, more than anything else, speaks to Kennedy's unfitness to lead Lucasfilm.

We have got into it before when you were in the support for the pronouns, im sure you are happy to have woke diversity for the sake of diversity & identity politics in your entertainment! Unfortunately as its been shown a vast majority of the fans id say 99% do not & want them to stick to the source material! Your not going to tell me a company that is actively supporting that deranged nonsense has good intentions for the brand! But its from 2021 & nothing has good has been done so good day!

Star Wars was hit or miss. I DESPISE Andor, but I'll admit it's a well done show. I just had zero interest in the characters and their drama. I want STAR WARS, not Game of Thrones.
Book of Boba was OK, especially once Mando came back Kenobi stunk. Obi-wan is a depressed idiot who needs baby Leia to do anything. Don't get me started with Reva. Vader spending a decade to troll her made zero sense, and her almost killing a certain someone was WTF. Canon made no sense now because Owen and Beru know the Sith found them easily but still sit there with Luke? Mando is spectacular. It's pretty much all the Star Wars this 30 year fan cares about since 2000. Sequels are...better left forgotten and this is from someone who loved Kylo Ren and who is obsessed with Rey. |

A bit superfluous, but yes, I wholly agree. At that time it was the only Star Wars that felt like Star Wars though it lacked the intro crawl. Add that and the Williams Star Wars theme and it'd be perfect.

Eh.... I'm not a fan of the emo Batman and while I think Begins was the best "Batman film" we've gotten to date, its two sequels, IMO, were trash (TDK didn't know if it wanted to be a Joker story or the rise and fall of Harvey Dent, and Rises, hot garbage with a quitter Batman, a Hobbit-sized Bane and some of the worst acting on celluloid thanks to Talia's death). We got the best on screen "Batman" with Affleck (Martha Kent's rescue actually felt like the comic Batman), and now we're back to diet Nolan with the new EMO Batman film - which was boring and underwhelmingly pretentious. If anything Batman has continued to be hit-and-miss at best. This is just my opinion though, and I do get that I'm in the minority on where I stand.

I also find the Nolan films to be pretentious. I haven't seen the most recent one because it looks like even more Nolan-y. I didn't care for Affleck as Batman...because he's...Ben Affleck. I prefer it when they go with unknown actors. Nothing will ever be as bad as Bat-nipples, though... Last edited by AWOL; 11-26-2022 at 12:26 PM.. |

Yep, Batman ‘89 for me. 2000s Emo and pushed-gravely voice were eye-roll inducing. 90s versions were simply pathetic.
I really did like Ledger’s and Phoenix’s Jokers, and what Batman was present or not was forgotten. Those were both (obviously the latter) Joker-centered movies.
