I'm too much of a DC comics guy for that mindset to stick.
Barry Allen was better than Jay Garrick. And Wally is MUCH better than Barry. Same deal with Alan, Hal, and Kyle. Interpretations of characters change with time. Hell, Ben Grimm and Reed Richards aren't WWII vets anymore and no one cares. |

My argument against Snake Eyes being changed to Asian is that it sort of also changed the dynamics (in some respects) for the relationship between him and Storm Shadow, minor as they may be to some. I always thought it was interesting to see a total white boy (most likely from the mid-west or rural America?) and a Japanese-American kid from a very traditional Japanese background as best friends in the army fighting in 'Nam together. Both were from completely different backgrounds but yet grew to be very close and developed a special, almost inseparable bond. I admired that aspect and liked that dynamic about them. I also always appreciated the fact that SE's friendship with Tommy made him want to learn and embrace a completely different culture than his own and basically evolved into a completely different person than before.
This describes me to a T lol And I am not even talking about race changes, either. Could be hair color, physique, career, gender, personality, background or anything really. For a hypothetical example, if a character is originally established as being a red-head and skinny and then is changed to having jet black hair and super muscular - it bothers me to no end. So it's not that a character's race being changed is what even bothers me, it's just the simple fact that the character's original appearance or whatever has been changed is not what I was used to or had became accustomed to. People were on here last weekend saying they didn't like Hawk changing from blonde to a brunette (I only knew Hawk as a brunette since I didn't read the comics and never had the '82 Hawk figure as a kid, so it never bothered me I guess). I look at that personal preference as being the same as someone who prefers SE being white as opposed to Asian. What is the difference when it really comes down to it? Not everything is about race or has some under-handed evil agenda or malice or reason. It just so happens one of the things the Snake Eyes movie changed was his race, so that may have annoyed some. And it's no different than Hawk going from blonde to dark brown and bothering people too. People get used to something and when it changes may not like it. Sorry for being long-winded and not succinct, just wanted to make my point clear. |

4 people who might be vastly different backgrounds who all became good friends later on (don't forget before they used the whole Snake-Eyes and Scarlett love thing they were described as best friends and only Scarlett could draw him out of his shell after the war). Man, there really was a movie there to tell. Shana, Tommy, Lonzo, and Classified maybe bonding during the War on Terror, Classified getting horribly disfigured by an IED trying to save Shana, the PTSD Classified had, etc. And then he comes home and finds out his family died in a car crash with some drunk guy whose yahoo brother then blames the U.S. government and the War. And Tommy goes home only to have his Master murdered and him blamed. Movie ends with Tommy on the run, and Classified being found in his cabin by Lonzo and Shana and recruited to a new military outfit. And the angry guy who blamed the U.S. government is now selling a pyramid scheme in some Midwest town named Springfield. |

I liked how it was some generic white dude from the Mid-West, a white girl from the South, an Asian guy from San Fran, and a Black man who all bonded together while under fire.

Always thought someone with video skills should cobble together a YouTube GI Joe "trailer" out of clips from 80s-90s action movies. The Cannon ninja movies and Predator would be gold mines for it. There's a guy in Clear and Present Danger who could be Stalker, Skystriker shots could come from Top Gun, Night Raven shots from Eastwood's Firefox, etc. Stick some of Rob Walsh's Sunbow score and a Chris Latta CC rant as soundtrack and voiceover and it'd be awesome.

I guess The Expendables series was the closest thing we ever got to that.
