Like the updated Mercer! BUT I am super psyched at the potential of Sci-Fi Ver 4, that looks like it's going to be a new winning entry in this already mighty thread!

Today I just have a couple LBCs. The first one is a character I?m not familiar with. Apparently, he was a new recruit during the Devil?s Due run. I saw a page from one of the DDP issues and it had a group of newbies. The Mariner guy looked pretty cool. I knew he would make a nice custom. I made this guy from leftover parts from my bin. I like him well enough, I guess. You’ll notice that both Mariner and Barrel Roll have the same head. It’s really Barrel Roll’s head. I also used it on Mariner as a placeholder til my Marauders order comes in the mail.
MARINER (V1): 2004 Next up is Barrel Roll. He seems to be a perennial favorite. I don’t get it. He’s alright and all, but he ain’t sliced bread or nuthin’. I didn’t picture him with his flyer cuz I still have a lot of painting to do on it. BARREL ROLL (V2): 2004

Fun deep dive character, never heard of Mariner before! Really great use of leftover parts and the new camo pants really mimic the comic art well. Always nice to find a good off the shelf use for some of the awesome Marauder camo patterns because there are some that it?s almost painful to paint over. Great idea to attach the goggles to the chest, definitely an idea I have to borrow because there are quite a few guys with odd design elements in their chest that I?m always trying to mimic in my modern builds.
Haha, count me in as a member of your ?I don?t get Barrel Roll? group. When looking up your inspiration for this one, I was shocked to see that he had three versions in the early 2000?s. I knew about the one the Club based theirs on and the blue because I keep meaning to make him...,,but I don?t remember seeing the red version before. Really great take on him, always enjoy seeing a good contractor build. Definitely an improvement on the version that the Club gave us.

I like the pack out on Mariner with the glued binox, belt rig, & unique weapon! That's a nice take on Barrel Roll, very true to the original, as I like that version of him the best!

Today I?m back to revisiting old customs. This time we are going back, back, back to 1993. It?s a figure that originally was very successful in my opinion. My custom, however, fell just a bit flat. After some tweaking, I feel incrementally better about him. Today, we come back around to Cross Country V2 (First attempt is at the bottom)
CROSS COUNTRY (V2): 1993

Nice revisions man, paintwork shines on making the harness look like the original as well as the USA Flag to help modernize him for 21st Century sensibilities. Having him growing up, he was so much better than the original (who I also had.) Plus having built this one myself with MTF, I can see your re-interpretation ideas through & through!

That is a perfect v2 Cross Country! The build looks just like the original o ring and the paint job is incredible! Love the vibrant orange, but that blue is the show stopper to me. That color is great! The contractor pants look awesome in that shade and the muted brown for the boots & belt & bright orange on the holsters pop so well off of it. The two tone straps & mods to the webgear were great ideas too, gives him a different look from the off the shelf unaltered straps.
Always fun to revisit older customs with new ideas, especially as newer parts come out. You definitely took advantage of that and absolutely crushed this one. He?s one that I always wanted to revisit as well.....now I definitely need to because this looks so much better than what I have on my shelf!
