Same. Not a figure I ever cared about.
He wasn't featured very much in the show after Mass Device and so I never knew how big of a deal he was to many.

I'm sentimental over several figures I got of him because of the occasion but he is usually one of my filler purchases instead of one I'm excited for...only reason I got him in Classified was to get Timber

Storm Shadow. Bad is always better. Or in his case pretend bad.

When I finally read the comics as an adult, Snake Eyes shot way up my list of faves. Top 10 for sure.
I tend to lean toward the pulpy sci fi side of GI Joe, and not take it too seriously. But some of those stories nested within GI Joe resonate on a deeper, more serious emotional level, and the Snake Eyes story does that. Even when GI Joe's overall tone is fun and pulpy and sometimes wacky, you still need to tug those heartstrings, which both the comic and cartoon did. I really like HCC788's reading of the "Letter from Snake Eyes", this is such fine writing by Hama.

It may be a sheep answer, but yes he is. At least on the Joe side Snake Eyes is my favorite character. Storm Shadow may be a contender for my favorite character as a whole because of the tragic backstory and how he defects to the Joes.
