Yes, but with a new writer. Vietnam can be retconned to a modern war if neccesary.
I'd like to see Larry peel off and do a Storm Shadow limited series again. I think he'd really get his teeth into that, and this time Hasbro might realize this is one of their most bankable Joe characters and not make him a pointless bad guy But if we are going down the new story route... What I don't want: Gender changes to the existing characters. Want more female characters? Great. Invent them! Really like Sherlock so far. Do that. Also what I don't want: re-telling of the SE/SS story to make SS a bad guy. It's such a bad take on those characters and insta-puts me off any new take on Joe that does it. What I do want: Make Cobra Commander a real scumbag - maybe not quite DDP level when he used horrific chemical weapons on 50,000 civilians and killed his son and strung up the body, but not far off. Some of the stupid vehicles. I loved the issues where they threw in silly stuff like the mobile command center and the Thunderclap. The vehicles were fun, keep them in, and make a big deal when they appear, they're not standard tanks. |

If they bring in Extensive Enterprises, we'll never see Zarana & Zandar as twins again. :(

I just read the solicitation for #300 and it (again) states that this is the final ARAH arc *at IDW publishing* which firmly suggests to me that ARAH will continue with another publisher. I'm optimistic that this is the case. If the new publisher takes over in January 2023, best case would see issue #301 (or whatever) in January. And, if that's the case, we could see a solicitation as early as September. All that said, I wouldn't be surprised if "they" give Joe a short break and debuted new product in Q2.
ETA, there's three covers shown in the solicitation. None of them seem to tease the story inside and only one (Diaz) is drawn by a top artist. Hopefully Gallant will draw a cover that will tease the story. Last edited by stopdead; 08-22-2022 at 01:15 PM.. |

He mentioned it at a recent convention appearance. The video is in this post: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/5563345-post202.html
Thoughts: 1. Since he's actively writing it now, I gotta believe that we'll see #301 shortly after #300 publishes. 2. IDW gave Larry free rein as well, with mixed results. Hopefully whatever held ARAH back at IDW won't be the case moving forward. 3. PLEASE have a great art team on board and produce some great covers that tease the story! |

Pure speculation and probably a bit of a stretch, but Netho Diaz stated on Twitter that he's going to be working on a new project for Image. Skybound titles are released via Image. Perhaps Netho is working on #301?

Fair enough. Art is subjective. I happen to think he’s one of the most talented artists of the IDW run. His work on 246-250 in particular was gorgeous. I also think the inker makes a big difference. A weak inker can make even the best artists look bad and there’s been plenty of bad inks in the IDW run.
For the record, I think I liked Alex Sanchez’s art the least during the IDW run. Curious who everyone here thinks was one of the best and worst of the IDW run? Last edited by stopdead; 10-04-2022 at 08:34 PM.. |
