But I don't think it was ever truly intended to be "THE" Delta. Joe being international ultimately isn't about us. It's about trying to position the brand for the future and as part of that to try to make it more marketable to places outside of the US. "Just change the name" isn't as easy as it sounds...that becomes a new product altogether, which is harder to market and has no built in cultural cachet. And also requires the expenditure of money to register trademarks when they can instead renew the trademarks they already have. |

Which begs the question: Does Europe have it's own homegrown action figure line?

You make a very good point and gave me reason to consider if G.I. Joe was ever a Joint Task Force or not. The Secretary of Defense has the authority to create one, but I am not sure if we have ever seen the G.I. Joe team give "special consideration to maximizing integration of forces in both planning and execution", which is required by instruction.
The next question I have is if Cobra were ever to operate in the United States, can foreign military forces be allowed to engage in combat within US borders? I don't think that would ever be allowed under present law. The final consideration I had regarding whether or not G.I. Joe is a Joint Task Force is regarding the battles which have already occurred with Cobra in the United States, without G.I. Joe integrating State and local law enforcement, which would be required by law if it were a Joint Task Force. But in my own personal verse: The Joes have an American base (The PIT), staffed with American personal (which would respond to any domestic issues and can also deploy overseas) and they have an International Base (with a mixture of American / Coalition personal) so they can maintain their Rapid Deployment posture any where in the world. My current international base of choice is a secret part of Incirlik Air Base in Turkey given its proximity to several hot spots on the globe. |

I'm wondering if Europe has (or has ever had) an action-figure line created from the ground up within it's borders. |

Incirlik Air Base is nice, and a great choice for use in your Joeverse. I was there on orders in 2000 as part of Operation Northern Watch. Some parts of that installation had really tight security, which may or may not have contained a particular type of warhead. Just couldn't be caught running anywhere along the perimeter road at sunset (because the sentries were said to have itchy trigger fingers).

UK had AF, Tommy Gunn back in the 1960s (a rival of Action Man), and HM Armed Forces, a 12in figure line based on... well, what it says, but it was essentially an MOD backed version of Action Man with realistic figures, weapons and some vehicles and no names to the soldiers beyond "Royal Marine", "Infantryman" etc. and some generic black-clad bad guy figure. |
