Do you drill holes into the feet and adhere them in? I would like to hear more about this.

How do the stand needs differ between Classified, Legends, The Black Series, DC muliverse, NECA and WWE figures?
Do they all have different sized peg holes?

So I only got into adult collecting when the classified line started. And for various reasons I am only now able to start opening the boxes and putting them out for display.
And I am discovering I am very very bad at a key part of putting them out for display: getting them to stand up. Quote:

There's no industry standard, so the holes may vary from line to line. Peg holes can vary within a line especially between male and female figures. |

I wrote an intensive detailed process for getting figures to stand for a good amount of time without magnets. But it's crazy long, AR, OCD, and borderline psychotic I think. For now, here?s are thumb notes?if anyone wants the full Freebird edition, let me know.

Magnets help keep both feet perfectly flat on the base, but need a metal or magnetized base surface/stand. Will be updated with more recent finds (especially with Classified), but more here: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...net-study.html

Jump on Amazon and you'll likely find 200 or so 2mm x 3mm magnets for $10. They come in an array of sizes, for example I use 3mm (thick) x 2mm (diameter) magnets for my 1/18 figures. I find it easier to guage a peg hole size by sticking Allen wrenches into the holes till I find an appropriate snugness. Friction generally holds the magnets in place, but I'm not above gluing them in place. A pin drill is ideal to add peg holes or make existing holes bigger or deeper.

I did forget to note that critical aspect. The magnets are only useful when they have a base they can interact with. To that end there are numerous decorative steel sheets available at hardware stores or Amazon online. A little spray paint goes along way to making the metal sheets effectively dissappear on the shelf while allowing a near infinite combination of posing options.
I was leary about buying off Amazon--I bought a whole bunch of 12mm dia magnets off Amazon and they just weren't as good the same size ones from Hobby Lobby. They had weird zones of repellence and different seem as strong. But seeing how cheap the 3mm dia x 2mm and 3mm x1mm magnets are on Amazon, and based on Bujo's recommendation, I decided to give them a shot--to be continued. I took a quick photo of my opened Star Wars Black Series "display", which I haven't touched in more than a year (so many figures to open and add). 2022-08-07_11-16-54 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr So...this may seem like my technique described earlier is absolute crap, but truth is that most of these figures--standing or fallen--fail my end goal test in that they have tons of wobble and both feet werent'//aren't completely flat with each other. A lot of these SWBS figures have a lot going against the flat placed feet thing (almost all of which are not a problem with most of these new Classified Joes): 1. thin weak legs, often warped/bended. 2. small feet (narrow, short, or both) 2. foot joint ratcheted in a bad position (leaning slightly forward) 3. sculpled curved bottom soles (why Hasbro why) 4. no swivel at lower leg boot. 5. very tight high thigh swivels (again why) I need a weekend to get them all fixed up with the technique, while also opening and adding a bunch more figures. But for added long-term stability, I'm going to get them all magnetized as well. More in a few weeks, with results before and after magnets... |

Bujo I hadn't seen anybody confirm the magnet thing on these forums, so thanks for the additional info. I've been using the 3mm dia x 3mm deep magnets from Hobby Lobby for a while. For 3.75" Joes before the 2020 Retro rebuilds, 3mm x 3mm is a super tight fit. You almost always have to heat the feet first, stick the magnet on a plate (or other large magnet) and then jamb it up into the foot as far as it will go. Not all foot holes are deep enough for 3mm tall, so 2mm is probably ideal for 3.75 figures. For Hasbro 6" figures, 3mm deep seems to never be a problem. 3m diameter is a little loose, and you actually want more friction on these taller and heavier figures. I've found coating a stack of them in clear nail polish or coating the foot pegs to help tighten things (without having to superglue the magnets to figures).
Nail polish is a great idea, especially for those who want a less permanent solution. I tend to customize a lot of my figures with Marauder gear and have little hesitance to just gluing shit in place. Quote:

Eventually I'll try this with my 1/12 scale stuff too which is mostly MOTU CLASSICS and Mythic Legions. MOTUC is particularly known for shelf diving, so hopefully this will remedy that annoyance. |

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Are there certain figures you know they work for?
