I'm right behind you, wedge! And yeah, I hope we see Zarana and her twin Zandar developed and explored. ;)

If anyone even gets it. Kirkman was going for it right? But after that first announcement has anything ever came of it? Maybe it wont and it will just die.
If someone does I hope they don't change it as far as characters and such goes such as don't take gung ho and make him a gay hippie in the coast guard sort of thing. IDW did a great job for the most part but I hope they go more darker and graphic whoever takes it. Snake Eyes should still be around and play a big part but it should not revolve around him.

Speaking of revolving around--please, whoever gets the license, don't have Zarana revolve around Zartan? It's been done too many times before. Let's see her and her twin brother Zandar shine!

His exact words in both posts are:
1. "So, I will be completely out of work after ARAH#300. Maybe I can actually build some of those model kits I?ve been collecting, or finish my tell-all expose of the comics biz?" 2. "Let me be clear: nothing has been officially announced about who will take over the GI JOE license, and nobody has contacted me. It may well be that #300 will be my last issue. #300 will be both a conclusion and a cliff-hanger with enough leeway to allow continuation of the ARAH storyline without killing off any characters. It has been a wild ride these past forty years, and I am humbly grateful to all the loyal fans that have stuck by the Joes through thick and thin." |

I'm not sure how to implement (and I know, the devil is in the details), but I'd like to see them do Hama's Fury Force, with whatever mods he needs to do in order to change it away from Marvel/Nick-Fury.
I feel like maybe wiping away 300 (PLUS!) issues of continuity would free LH up a bit in his writing, and maybe we could capture some of that lightning in a bottle from the mid-eighties GI Joe. It wouldn't have to be a reboot, but some hand waving involving 10 years forward, or Joe and Cobra both being cut/drawn-down or something? That would leave some room for existing characters to come back. Maybe it could be kind of like the very under-rated GI Joe Reloaded, but with Hama at the helm? If you're reading this LH, or get word of it: No BLUE NINJAS or any deadly robots, ok??? Anyway, I think Hama has said he never gave Fury Force much thought beyond the initial concept, so I think letting that core group of Fury Force form a new GI Joe, written by Hama or perhaps another competent writer (I don't have a pick at the moment) would re-energize my reading experience. |

I hope the new publisher shows as much love for the Dreadnok Twins as they do for the Crimson Twins.

I wonder if we'll get an announcement at SDCC next week?!? I don't see Skybound listed as a vendor but Hasbro and Image will be there...

I suppose so, but I feel like Origins was sort of the Joes before the team...but I'll admit I don't totally remember right now what the plot was; I just remember thinking it was by and large just OK. Maybe I'll go back and re-read it?
I like the Fury-Force-ish idea because it has the archetypes of those first Joes, but not the 40 years of baggage. |
