If there's a reboot, Zandar won't be in it. Creative teams live to disappoint, for the most part.

I think it is time to lay real American to rest. The newer stuff just diminished the older stuff for me.
I love the original run and it’s got some issues itself - maybe a real time mini series to tell us what happened after 1994 without having to be a continuing series?

They need to change it up. Stop making Cobra Commander a joke. Do 4 -5 issue storylines. Focusing on different missions that in the end all tie together. Do things like land sea air arctic ..etc. And for gods sake make the first story arc about the twins so dreadnok twin can finally have a good nights sleep

I think they just need to go with a reboot like the original Dixon IDW stuff, but from the start make it clearly GI Joe.
The Dixon stuff I loved but it was really slow and for a large part of it folks hated how little actual GI Joe there was in it, it was just regular dudes in the military figuring out what is going on with a secret organization. It took a couple years before we really got like... GI Joe. Theres several scenes in those early years of the new IDW GI Joe where you have a bunch of Joes on a two page splash... you can barely recognize anyone except for Scarlett cause everyone looks like a generic modern operator. GI Joe Reborn from the Image days to me is the perfect modern reboot. Modern, some realism and adult stories, while also being familiar to fans. Now if they could find a director with some time on their hands and give them the first few issues to read, maybe we could get a nice live-action series going...

As for the twins, I would love for the Dreadnoks to include Zartan, Zarana, Zandar, and all the others and to be completely separate from Cobra. I don't want Zartan to be honorable and form alliances with the Joes. I want them to be formidable villains in their own right. Same goes for Destro/Baroness. |

GI Joe Reborn from the Image days to me is the perfect modern reboot. Modern, some realism and adult stories, while also being familiar to fans. Some characters did maintain signature features that made them somewhat recognizable like Flint having his black beret or Beach Head having his ski mask. Hawk and Cover Girl had their bomber jackets. Other than that they had pretty generic looks. That's one thing I really liked about the 2013-2014 lines is that the characters got more distinct looks and didn't look generic. Duke, Tunnel Rat, and Quick Kick's designs in Fred Van Lente's run are my all-time favorite designs for those characters. Even Dixon's Special Missions run went in that direction. |

Aside from Deadgame, I've only ever read Hama's Joe stories. I've scanned through some of the Image and other IDW stuff, but I never got the sense that any of them would last long enough for me to invest my time into them. I had stopped reading comics altogether until I heard ARAH was revived. Whether or not I continue when a new publisher takes over depends entirely on the creative team and direction of the book. If things pick up with #301 with or without Hama, I'll give it a fair shot as that's the story I know and love. If it's something all-new that starts at #1, it will have to be pretty amazing for me to stick around.

Hama's CC started to resemble the Sunbow version after his return circa issue 100. |
