Feel like it's easier for me to like ME because as a Star Wars fan I've gone from 5POA SWOLE figures in the late 90s to the modern TVC of 2022.
So seeing the ME figures compared to the O-Rings I started with doesn't make me go "Eww, gangly proportions". It just feels more like the way I look at my new 3.75 Star Wars compared to me 90s one. The old ones are nice and fun to look at but for "display" I prefer ME as they look more realistic and have better poseability and tighter joints. Not that I don't intermingle my O-Rings and ME together just like SWOLE Wars figures intermingle with modern Star Wars figures. |

I like the old-timey o-rings for their nostalgia and power to conjure up good memories, but well done ME and (if you can deal with the size) Classified are just so superior in look and build. I prefer the original art of ARAH and therefore SHOULD be going full hog for these new figures. But the paper thin cards really ruin it for me, so either I go back and spend thousands on originals. Or I leave the past in the past and learn to move on.

I got my first Joe in 1982 and my last from the original run in 1994. I still own my entire childhood collection of 50ish figures and a dozen or so vehicles. I have great affection for them, but I'm not terribly nostalgic, and what Hasbro was able to do in the ME, between about 2010 and 2014, was everything I always wanted GI Joe to be aesthetically and functionally. I'm happy for all the collectors who are enjoying the Classified line and those who are seeing Official classic o-ring reproductions and exciting new retro-inspired lines like Callsign: Longbow, but I'm kind of bummed Hasbro has completely withdrawn from the ME market (at least for the foreseeable future). The Walmart Retro line had its flaws, but it was nice having new product out there in that style/scale.

I think it's clear they withdrew from the ME stuff. Especially with Hiya having the license for 3.75 now.
What Hiya puts out is basically ME style figures, although nowhere near as good as Hasbro's best offerings (ie 3.75 Moff Gideon, Bo-Katan, Corvus Ahsoka, etc.). |

I believe so far of what is released, Corvus Ahsoka, Bo-Katan, and the Mythol are the only ones that have the ball jointed hips.
Haven't checked my Deathwatch Troopers yet. Last edited by IzzyTipsy; 07-27-2022 at 04:03 PM.. |
