lol That's great! Someone said they should've just left the mods in because roomier interiors work for o-ring guys too, and I agree. I think these new toys don't account for any of that though. I think they're based off of scans of the actual vintage toys, so they're not even thinking about compatibility with the larger ME figures. They're just recreating the vintage line.

Probably.
Which kinda sucks because I never had many of these figures in O-Ring so I dump the ME figures into my O-Ring vehicles. At least my HISS II is spacious enough to fit the oodles of Walmart ME Cobra Troopers I got (and RoC Baroness could drive it!). And the Desert Fox fit both Walmart Scarlett and Cleavage Lady Jaye (25th? 50th? I forget) in the driver and passenger seat and Helix in the back seat! |

I think the later vintage vehicles fit ME better. Seems like it's really only the early ones (first couple of years) that are the super-tight squeeze. You should be able to buy the Walmart Retro HISS III and FANG on Pulse (and maybe Walmart.com still) for a reasonable price. And the other Walmart Retro and other ME vehicles can be found on ebay for good prices if you take your time looking and don't mind loose/used.
It's not strictly an o-ring vs. ME issue either. I think people often take for granted how much wider and bulkier figures got even over the original ARAH run. EDIT: Here's a link to an awesomely helpful old thread on ME figure / vintage vehicle compatibility: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...ompatible.html

This is very true. I have a healthy mix of ARAH, new sculpt era, and ME figures in my collection all mixed-and-matched with vehicles from all eras. Most of the vehicles I have from 87-ish onward accommodate figures from all eras just fine with a few exceptions (and not counting foot or back peg issues). It's mostly the vehicles from the swivel-neck era that present the biggest challenge for later figures.

I just read a review of the 1993 Mudbuster on forgottenfigures.blogspot.com and the reviewer pointed out how the chunkier builds of the 90s figures would not really fit in early vehicles like the 1983 Dragonfly. The builds and design philosophy of figures and vehicles changed quite a lot over the 1982 to 1994 run.

Still trying to get the Cobra armored vehicle from RoC but the price isn't a good thing right now for me. |
