I went just for the nostalgia. I loved every aspect of it as a kid. Though I'm still a GI JOE fan but it is hard to ignore how wacky it is as an adult, and having served in the military. The intro bits were a nice touch for my girlfriend who had zero knowledge of GI JOE. The talk about the Classified line was bittersweet, given it's what got me back into buying some figures but how difficult they are to get.

It was fun, there was only about 6 people in the theater lol. But the Hasbro intro was really cool. My son really liked it, even though I told him before, "Ok, this won't make any sense, compared to the comic and the previous cartoons, Storm Shadow is in it for 2 seconds, a BAT is only seen for a second, Cobra Commander's origins are completely different, etc".
He said it was better than the first 2 live-action movies but he really loved the Snake Eyes live-action too, probably because he saw it in the theater. |

Only one other guy aside from me and my buddy?
The intro was my 1A, but watching Airtight jump out of the 2nd floor window was my 1B, lol. I did not remember that part!

I'm curious if this made any money or did they lose money showing this.

The only question is whether the theater loses money by wasting an auditorium on this when they could play something more popular instead. But with theatrical attendance in the toilet these days, most multiplexes probably have screens to spare. |

Yeah, most theaters that offered this are the theaters with 10+ screens. There aren't that many movies out currently, and this probably did better than showing a small indie film.

Most of the in-person reports are of minimal attendance, but Fathom events don't actually cost a lot of money to mount. They basically just have a special streaming server in the projection booth, like a proprietary customized Roku. There's negligible distribution cost associated with that.
