I'm just curious as to WHY people buy the new recasts of the old stuff outside of "it's for my kids, I'm replacing what was broken," etc.
Maybe just because from a very young age I was raised to be a "collector". I saw Mego re-releases and my dad going "You always want to have the originals, not repros" and that was hammered into me. I've still got Megos from the 70s on the card and when I see them in Target go "Ewww, the originals are cooler!" I think it's just something unique to me because I was raised to always want the originals and not "repros". My dad and uncle would always spend the money on the originals instead. As big Cogi collectors, anything that wasn't the original release was seen as less valuable, less desirable, and not what a "real collector" wants. That's why for example I jumped into ME Joes instead of back to O-Ring - because I couldn't bring myself to purchase "repros" as I saw them in the early 2000s. |

Why would you want new versions of the old figures you had? I'll never understand that thought process.
I'd rather spend the $40 for the vintage one instead of the 2022 re-released one. Especially if they're going to be in shitty boxes instead of the card going forward. I've done it on very rare occasions - ie bought the Vintage Krang re-release at TRU back in the day on a whim - but I just can't get myself psyched to get something I already have. To me, the only appeal to the O-Ring re-releases is the "unbreakable" O-Rings in them. And at this point, I doubt they intend to re-release the entire O-Ring line that way so I'd just be grabbing the occasional figure they put out, which is no way to make a line. To each his own I guess, but it's the same thing with Star Wars Retro for me. I bought the Mando ones because they go with my old Vintage figures and I don't have them, but I passed over all the re-release Retros because I already have them or can go buy the actual vintage figure.

It's crazy how many different motivations/reasons/requirements/preferences/whatever there are for collecting this stuff. I remember when I first started this back in 2000, I couldn't wait to rip them open and couldn't understand those who kept 'em sealed. When the time the 25th anniversary came along, I totally got keeping them MOC because of the retro packaging that just floated my nostalgia boat...I still opened them though. Now after a couple of decades of toys piling up, I derive a lot less pleasure from messing around with the toys themselves, and it sure would've been easier to keep track of this shit had I kept 'em all sealed or in their packaging, yet I still opened retro-ring SS & SE. Point is, for whatever dicked up (and likely unhealthy) reason, we all do what we do.

Pretty much everything I buy now is predicated first on space available to display, second on price. I took down Joe posters in my small office and found room to hang carded figures; I am hard-pressed to find any more space (but don?t cry for me, Argentina?I have 14 detolfs filled)!

My payment still says "pending." The "fulfillment status" briefly changed to "shipping soon", but then went back to "unfulfilled." I just asked them to cancel my order because I think paying with Paypal Credit screwed things up for me, at least on the payment. If I decide I really want the Cobra 2pack, I'll order them again. Regardless, I'm sick of Pulse's ineptitude on this. All they have to do is fulfill orders in the order they're placed. It's not rocket science.

StalemateSB thank you for the review and great photos!
I am disappointed about the QC issues. I wonder what the story is behind them painting the bazooka instead of using green plastic. |

It could be something as simple as whatever color plastic is underneath the paint is the same color used for the other accessories. Pennies matter with this shit, says the beancounters.
