side note - finally received my SW Vintage Collection DROIDS wave R2D2 figure, after waiting 9 months...
and it seems Target has hired some of Walmart's people to work in shipping. Some disturbed soul used a box that was too small - FOLDED the card to make it fit and crushed it into the box. WHYYYYYY !?!?!?! |

That's a marketing issue. I don't want to say it's sheer laziness, with how simple it is to keep people engaged on social media in this ever-growing, fast paced age of technology. But the only other option there would be a corporate mandate not to do so, and I'm not sure it's worth making the tinfoil hat to go with that option either. Is there a middle ground? lol

I say this with no malice or disrespect, but you definitely have not worked in corporate communications.
Let's approach it this way (sorry in advance for opening this can of worms). Hasbro social person thinks to themselves and posts: "Cobra Commander looks best in his:" with [Helmet/Hood] as options. The s-storm this would open up should make it very self-evident how much even the most innocuous tweet/post has to be vetted and approved by brand managers at a minimum, and potentially corporate and legal teams depending. That's without considering those corporate stakeholders who just live to micromanage everything under the sun no matter how little they truly know or how slowed down it makes an otherwise simple process. But, yeah, corporate comms is very very complex stuff. Hope that example makes it clear, even if we'll definitely get pulled into this hood argument again as a result. But why the lack of engagement? Why the silent treatment from the GI Joe specific accounts? All the news comes from Hasbro Pulse now. Anyway, all this talk of CC and Flint and LJ and movie figures makes me wonder; what da heck! Because I see NONE of that in my AO. Not ONE Classified size Joe anywhere. Even the smaller, cheaper figures are all gone. On top of that, I check my local Target a couple weeks ago and find 2 BBQs.....on clearance for $19.94!! Went back over a week later and they were still there, so I got them (BTW, anyone needing a BBQ, $20 plus shipping). Funny thing is, when I used self checkout and scanned one, it wouldn't let me scan the second one. This popped up: Target, you're the greatest......... Quote:
I was looking at the 3.75 Marvel figures and was amazed by the quality of their cardbacks... and they are cheaper than the Joe stuff! WHY! how?
but I should also note that the SW Vintage Collection Droids wave figures have the same shitty cardbacks that the Joes do... So is it just that the Marvel team insists on having quality cardbacks and the other teams dont give a shit? And the 3" Joes are made by Super7/Reaction, not Hasbeen, so they're not "mass market" I guess?

Has anyone seen any news on when this will be out?
https://toynewsi.com/278-41831 I know it's not a Classified figure, but it is 6" and will be my stand in until we get something resembling it. The most surprising thing to me is that Cobra Commander is full on Classic, not a variation on the Evergreen design

StarWars carbacks are also shit. but Marvel Legends Retro (toybiz style) cardbacks and Marvel Retro (Kenner style) cardbacks are all legit. |

I defer to my "yes" answer. Either the Joe team, or someone at Hasbeen has no regard to card quality. However, the Retro Joes do have better articulation and more accessories. Perhaps they assume the Joes will be opened and package tossed, but the Marvel will most likely remain MOC.

I was looking at Hasbro pulse today and I noticed that Heavy Artillery Roadblock is saying coming soon instead of sold out when you go to his page. I think he might be coming back into stock tomorrow during the Friday restock.

You may be right, but his price still being $22.99 makes me think that it's not the case. No way they'll put him up for anything less than $24.99.
