Assuming there is an instant continuation, since I'm not sure a new publisher has made a formal announcement, I wouldn't mind seeing a *new* GI Joe monthly title and a quarterly 100-150 page *classic* title. See which sells better over the course of 1-2 years and then adjust. Or, maybe we'll get an "Elon Musk presents GI Joe..."

I'll take a Musk-funded Joe title any day! Jim Lee on art duties might move a few extra copies. ;)
No, there has yet to be any official announcement of a new publisher. I hope we'll hear some news soon! |

Like many, I want to see the Hamaverse continue, but not with Hama writing. In fact, I think the lot of it should be retconned. Restart it after the last great arc, Trucial Abysmia, or after 155. The events of the IDW universe should be trash binned. Nothing of value would be lost. And make Cobra a threat again. Set them up as a philanthropist/globalist organization similar to the World Economic Forum ;) Make them more insidious, tie them to corporations and govts. And btw, you can make comics that can appeal to the original audience of 40-50 year olds and to younger generations. That was part of the appeal of the original run. I can still skim the first 115 issues and appreciate them immensely. They struck just the right tone of seriousness and light-heartedness. Haven't seen any other writer pull that tone off. Unfortunately after the aforementioned Trucial Abysmia arc the series began resembling more and more like a repetitive fever dream, particularly the last seven or eight years of derivative drudgery.

No, the Hamaverse needs to end so the franchise can properly evolve.

Evolve into what exactly? All the other iterations of GI Joe led to dead ends. Fans want the original source - the first Marvel run. Don't get me wrong, I love some versions like the Cobra series. As an adult, it was great to see this gritty take. But I wouldn't want it to be canon. Marvel is the OG. Start there and evolve from there. It needs a writer who loves the source material, is a capable writer who's not too heavy handed, and who isn't out to score "virtue" points by subverting the genre and proving how "progressive" they are. It would be great if we the fans could vet the writer and his or her ideas. Like an open to the public application.

I am telling you, I have a pitch that would please everyone. I just have to put it through another draft and get it before the right people. |

Or go with an author who has already produced a number of popular G.I. Joe novels that seemed to really resonate with the fandom.

Honestly, I'm jaded by what's come before from other creative teams. Zandar set up elsewhere than with his twin sister, Zarana & Zandar barely interacting at all and their relationship as twins glossed over/portrayed as squabbling siblings. I'd love to see their relationship as a pair of close and eerie biker twins with their own private language.

This is amazing! We're getting a ZANDAR figure! ZANDAR featured prominently in the Cobra Commander series! Character development! It's a great time to be a Zandar fan! Thank you, Hasbro!!! |

I have the pitch written but need to put it through another draft. It is something that would simultaneously thrill old-school, Classic fans while given everyone something we have never seen before. It walks a fine but satisfying line. I promise you that it would delight. Quote:

Solid choices. I've enjoyed watching Brian Shearer do some work on the Joes via his YouTube. Quote:

Sounds like you need to get to work then. |
