I've been wondering which character sold the least amount of action figures. Who would you "pick last" from the original thirteen 3-3/4" Joes?
Breaker, the Communications Officer Clutch, the VAMP Driver Flash, the Laser Rifle Trooper Grand Slam, the Laser Artillery Soldier Grunt, the Infantry Trooper Hawk, the Missile Commander Rock ?N Roll, the Machine Gunner Scarlett, the Counter Intelligence Officer Short-Fuze, the Mortar Soldier Snake-Eyes, the Commando Stalker, the Ranger Steeler, the Tank Commander Zap, the Bazooka Soldier A poll only allows for 10 slots. Sorry. Last edited by TheOverlordCorp; 01-11-2022 at 10:25 AM.. |

Since 4 of these guys were vehicle drivers and that may skew how well they sold, maybe do a poll of the 9 single carded releases?
Overall, I'd pick Breaker. Though his MOS makes him very valuable, as a lone figure he has no firearm defense. Nothing molded on, no defense from a vehicle, just a knife and a grenade. A Cobra 50 yards out could take him. |

Interesting point-of-view! He was third to get a Classified upgrade, but your point is logical. I seem to remember "the radio guy" dying in several war movies. Maybe that's the real reason Sunbow introduced Sparks. Breaker was recovering from a GSW. |

I always thought the original Hawk was pretty boring. At least Grunt had a distinctive ugly mug. Funny thing was, as a child, I thought Grunt and Zap were the same figure, just with different colored hair. I just assumed Grunt was a generic nickname for what was essentially a greenshirt, and they had different color hair for variety LOL.

Since this was a boys line, wouldn't Scarlett have warmed pegs?

I imagine so. I owned Scarlett but I think I put her off even past the second wave of Joes. Not sure I ever owned Zap, Grand Slam, or the original Clutch. I still have an old "desert" Clutch. These were among the first Joes I had, though, because my aunt worked at JC Penney. I still have Grunt and half of Flash.

When they came out in 1982, I had the least interest in Grunt. He was the "plainest" to me as a kid. He didn't come with any cool weapon/accessory, and his outfit has no distinguishing characteristic. Breaker was cool because he had that awesome headset that attached to his backpack, not to mention the beard.

Everybody wanted Scarlett. I had a few friends who got into Joes a year or two later and they were pissed because they could never find Scarlett by then.
