because he would look fucking stupid walking around a modern/future city in an all white ninja gi with lots of visible weapons, and people would ask him which way to the comic book convention, that's why.
A guy in a white leather jacket on the other hand, or a white suit, probably draws a few looks but just seems to have an odd sense of style. They obviously are trying to keep the look reminiscent without it being dumb. But if you honestly think that storm shadow could blend in anywhere in an all white silly-ass ninja outfit, sandals and all, i invite you to look at some cosplay threads and see how stupid real live people in ss costumes look. |

The sneakers look odd, but it is 2009, what do you think he is going to wear in an urban setting??? Sandles? Boots? I expect a Ninja to wear the most comfortable shoes that would keep his feet light. And wearing the costume from ARAH would be ridiculous and cartoon like.

What do you expect? Throwing stars? Those dont kill, just wound. Realisically, what good would SS's swords be in a modern gunfight??? I like his gun there, and hopes he puts some caps in Breaker's @ss with it. I wish SE had his Uzi in addition to his Glock. Swords look cool, but firepower is king. If there were ninjas today, and you might as well refer to modern day assassins as Ninjas as Ninjas were assassins, they would come with Sniper Rifles and not a bow and arrow. They only used a bow and arrow back in the day because the .50 cal sniper rifle wasn't around at the time. If it was, they would have used it.

For the record, I may be the most open-minded and optimistic person on these discussion boards about this movie. I like most of what I've seen thus far, but understand the movie could still suck even though I like the visuals. I'll reserve final judgement till I actually see the film. I'm hoping for a decent story, kickass action and more kickass action on top of that. I'm glad to see they've made an effort at least to bring the "concept" of a GI JOE team in line with 21st century geo-politics and future technology. I've read the comic since issue #1 in 1982, but I realize that my eleven y.o. perspective made me forgive a lot back then with GI JOE that I'd find ludicrous and lame now if they made an exact replica of that comic in motion picture form today. I don't think that makes me any less a "fan", either. I'm operating on the assumption that every change they've made to the characters, costumes, tech etc. is for the sake of making a GI JOE movie that makes sense to an audience today, not one from 1982. We'll see... |

Don't waste your fingers. Some people are not happy without something to be pissed about. No matter what they dressed SS in, as long as he is in the GI Joe movie, it would be all wrong. Somehow I doubt we'll even notice what's on his feet during the movie while he's running, jumping and kicking all over the place. I like the sneakers.

Whoah whoah whoah. I was being sarcastic (see the bottom of my last post). I dig the movie Snake Eyes costume (could do without the facial features on his mask, but I'm not gonna lost sleep over it).

I'm just as new as you, but i can't say i've been "lurking" for over a year. yikes! talk about a confession. JK. anyhoo, i agree with those that aren't too fond of Stormie's costume. I prefer the classic ninja look, but wutevs. I'm sure he'll be kicking some arse nonetheless. Snake Eyes looks wicked and Sienna as the Baroness was a great call - although can u imagine Megan Fox in that role?!!
Let's just imagine Megan Fox period... (still imagining...) |
