Hey overseas (non-US) guys!
I'm in the process of backing one for an Aussie ATM, and I'm willing to back on behalf of three more non-US residents, or for 3 more sets, whichever comes first. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT! You can have the pre-orders at cost, I just want to help get the damned thing funded!!! If you're interested, send me a private message, my cost after sales tax is $246.66 USD, Paypal F&F only

What GI Joe desperately needs that Star Wars and Marvel already have is successful new media. IMHO that can come from a return of the Sunbow cartoon in some way, shape or form that's equally nostalgic and modernized.

The Skystriker may fail, but at least it didn't LOSE backers like the Rancor did. I see a LOT of people crapping on the 3.75" Joe fanbase, calling them crybabies or whiners, or cheapskates or other garbage. But if Hasbro wants to lay blame for the state this brand is in, they have no one to blame but themselves. Fans have been burned way too many times by stuff like the t-crotch figures in the early 200s line, 25th Duke arms ruining countless wanted characters, a HORRID live action "movie". The decision to basically only make Duke, Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander at retail while "lesser" characters were handed off to a garbage "collectors club" who asked exorbiant prices. A few years ago the 3.75" Star Wars fanbase was in a similar state, basically abandoned for Hasbro's precious Black Series. But that fanbase go behind stuff like the Barge and Razorcrest and the Vintage Collection is in a better (not perfect but better) place now. 3.75 Joe COULD do the same, but it will take a serious team that actually cares about the brand and wants to make quality product that fans will want to buy. I just doubt we will ever see that again.
+-MWG-+ It doesn't help that the fanbase more than anything is so fractured between different toy lines. O-ring was a huge mistake to me, I know it's got fans but so many had moved onto modern style figs and for the Haslab to be focused on an attempted brand reboot of O-ring? That's a hard sell. |

I just backed it. I had waited hoping to have enough funds to do 2, but with the holidays, it’s just too tight on the budget. I’m not interested in another sky striker, although this one does look great. I do want more o ring figures though, so I’m gonna support this. Hopefully it’ll make it. If there is another vintage style product, I hope they’ll do something different. Sky strikers are plentiful. I’d like to see a smaller, more obscure vehicle released with a sub team of 5 or 6 figures. Maybe a night force or tiger force release with figures and a vehicle not previously done in those colors.

For the next time Emily browses these comments, I'd like to add my voice to those agreeing that three HasLabs at once was excessive and that it's probably a bad time of year for crowdfunding.
I had to choose the Skystriker over a proton pack. If these had been spaced out I would have backed a proton pack and multiple Skystrikers. As things are it wouldn't be financially responsible for me to do that right now. The Rancor wasn't something I would have been interested in anyway, so it didn't factor in for me, but I'm sure it did for many collectors. And even those Rancor backers who might have wanted one of the others might be soured on the whole HasLab experience now. |

That said, I can't see any downside to having what will likely be the best Skystriker you'll ever own. So much win here and with zero downside as I see it. Even if eventually Retro o-ring doesn't pan out to your liking you'd still own this absolute beauty of a center piece. |

If a smaller lower cost Haslab like this doesn't fund, we are never seeing those giant deluxe Haslabs ever happening.

It would probably take more than just vintage-style classic Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow for me to be willing to invest in the Skystriker. I'd like to get behind an o-ring line but until I see them deep into releases, I wouldn't want to invest too much in large sets.
