Hi everyone,
Hopefully you can help me. I live in the UK and have been hearing a lot about GI Joe conventions in the U.S. I am considering coming to one next year. My questions are: 1) Where and when will JoeCon 2022 be? Is there more than one? If so which is best? 2) What goes on at a JoeCon? Is it just a one day thing? 3) Is it worth it? Is it worth me travelling from the UK for? Thanks everyone |

JoeCon is done and over with.
There's JoeFest. I'm not sure if there is more than one G.I. JOE focused conventions It's the G.I. JOE equivalent to a comic book convention. They're generally held in late spring and during the ssummer over the course of a weekend. If you want to see America, meet JOE fans, attend panels with Larry Hama, Ron Rudat, and the voice actors from the cartoon, and buy JOE shit then the answer is yes.

No more Joe Con, sadly. The Joe Fest is still happening though. Last one I heard of was held in Augusta, GA this past September and Sgt Slaughter was there.

I can't really speak to whether or not it would be worth a trip overseas, but my son and I attended JoeFest in 2019 and it was one of the best times I've had at a convention:
https://www.joefestusa.com/ We fully intended to return last year, but didn't for obvious reasons. I'll be booking a room and buying tickets for 2022 next week. The guests included Ron Rudat, Larry Hama, Sgt. Slaughter, and a number of other Joe luminaries. Access to them was easy and they were just as nice as they could be. There was a fantastic selection of vendors that were Joe-focused, but had plenty of other items as well. We spent far more than we intended. Overall everything was well organized and very professional. Lots of great fans, guests, and vendors. Compared against other cons I've attended it gets my highest recommendation for Joe fans. As others have said, JoeCon is no longer.
If you want to read about the experience, I will shamelessly plug this (in my opinion) great book about it: https://www.amazon.com/Joy-JoeCon-Bi.../dp/B085RRT9Q6 |

I wonder if JoeCon was still going, would their exclusives be Classified figures. Brian & crew were mainly 12 inch Joe fans/collectors.

JoeFest is the convention that I now hear everyone talking about since JoeCon is no more. I have not been but the way people are talking is that JoeFest is probably the closest thing now to what we used to get. It is a recent thing as it looks like this year is only it's 5th year. I believe it is always in Augusta, Georgia, in the month of June every year. |
