For those wondering why another Skystriker, it's mentioned in the HasLab write-up:
"Sure, the Skystriker has been done before (and it’s awesome every time) but never like this. Only with modern technology are we able evolve this classic combat jet by adding the most precise detail and design to bring it from the 80s to the FUTURE. Because the future is now." That's marketing jargon of course, but at least they address it rather than ignore it. I wonder with the success of these smaller size Haslab projects are we slowly seeing the end of these items at direct retail? Or the opposite....with the tooling paid for by Haslab customers, a “basic” version is for sale later for a reduced (albeit still relatively high) price. I think the second would be unlikely for something like the Rancor but more feasible for something like the Skystriker. |

^ The stretch goals are viewed as freebies. Your price doesn't change. From Hasbro's perspective the more units they sell, the larger their order and lower cost-per-unit at the factory. They dangle the stretch goals to get more overall sales.
With other HasLabs the pledges ramp up as goals are met. Fence-sitters see more value as more stretch goals are unlocked. That's why the final week usually sees backers kick into overdrive. I'm most interested in the last one, the two ground crew guys. Those are the types of figures I always wanted that were never made, and the types of figures that should have come with the Flagg. Also, I agree. The Rip Cord is dope, but I have the '84, and Scarlett's alright I guess, but the ground crew would make my day.

That's marketing jargon of course, but at least they address it rather than ignore it. I think this is what baffles me more than anything. If you're paying to license the actual F14, you don't need to change things just enough to stay out of legal trouble. You can actually totally match the source material for once. So while you're adding on new details to mimic the real F14, you're charging premium price, and you're trying to make an "ultimate" Skystriker...shouldn't you go whole hog on nailing the details to match the real F14 in 1:18 scale? They have full permission to clone the features of the F14, but they just do a rough sketch of a lot of things instead? Why? Like I said before, it still looks good and I can't pick out a single update that made anything WORSE than the original Skystriker. It's all upside. But at this price point they could have - and should have - really put together something definitive and "ultimate." All that would have taken is a few notable adjustments to their design approach that they just totally skipped over. But then again, maybe there are people who would be upset with a true F14 with Skystriker deco. That's just not a viewpoint I can understand, but I can accept that it might exist. Just not sure how commonly held it is.

Not going to lie. When I get this Skystriker I'm going to use the USN decals rather than the GI Joe ones. I'll put Ace and Scarlett in as pilot and RIO but I definitely prefer to have it deco'd like a USN plane. |

Any chance you could put ME figures in this?
I'll probably break down And go in on this. I have multiple 30th SS's, so it not essential that I get another one. I do like the support vehicles though. Are they worth $230?

Maybe they learned something from the new Roboskull, and allow the ME figures to fit.

I like how the panel and HasLab page are very specific to attach the SS and flight crew to The Pit as opposed to the Flagg. Hasbro went out of their way to make no mention of the Flagg, which this jet is an obvious companion piece to.
"We don't want to hear about making a new Flagg so we're not going to use that name again." |

As far as ME, it has been pointed out that the seats have pegs for keeping figures in place, so some have been advocating for an alternative, pegless pair of them for ME.
Given the new sculpt and the new dimensions of the ejection seats, none of us knows for sure whether there’d enough legroom even after the peg situation was fixed. My guess is yes, but that’s not worth much… Hopefully will clarify for the 4” fans out there… |
