The jury is still out on both. But so far I'm not thrilled with the Resolute look, I might like the show if they EVER RELEASE IT! As for the Comic Like I said the Jury is still out but I am not impressed with the first issue and 1/2

I guess what hasbro has done with Transformers after the movie, serves as an example of what's to come for GIJOE.

and I'm not saying that it is unreasonable to prefer a mature version of G.I. Joe. on the contrary, I would also enjoy it. my position is that preferring a mature version shouldn't mean that a less mature version can't be good as well.

Here is another thought, why not just make all of these characters new?

ditching Scarlett / snake eyes thing, kinda bothers me...i hope they pull that back in during a sequel.

Oh yeah I forgot, all the kiddies will be confused if they did that....
Lets say Resolute or another all new joe line appears on shelves next year. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow will be immediately recognizable names due to the movie, even if the figures from this new line have absolutely nothing to do with the movies. Think of planning ahead for the long run. The casual audience and kids these days won't know who the hell Overlord is, and very little of them will recognize Lt. Storm. The one thing that ties RAH, the movie, Sigma 6, and the IDW comics together are the core cast of characters. Reimagined each time, but generally with similar qualities all throughout. |

don't you see the irony in wanting a child's toy to be mature? that is ultimately my point. no matter how old I get, G.I. Joe will always be a toy for children. as an adult, if you are seeking mature fair, what are you doing looking for it in a child's toy? get away from the toy aisle!
that would be like complaining that Legos aren't challenging enough for adults, or that children's books need to be a bit edgier. honestly, wouldn't it be great if someone tied Sam I am to a chair and stuffed his f#$!ing mouth full of green eggs and ham, then cut off his ear like Resevoir Dogs. that would certainly be more mature, and kids may even like it, but then it really wouldn't be a children's book anymore, would it? But when we were kids we liked some crazy violent shit. Sorry to beat my own dead horse, but Rambo had a cartoon, and toy line. So did Aliens, Predator, Friday the 3th, Nightmare on Elm.St, Commando, Terminator, and Robocop. All of these movies had an R rating, and some were threatend with an X rating. Even the Ghostbusters chain smoked, went around calling people "dick-less", and took straight shots of whiskey, and that movie still got a PG rating. Unlike a lot of stuff I liked when I was a kid, most of those thing I named above still hold value to me as an adult. Things I liked when I was a kid, like He-Man, and Thunder cats, that only spoke to me on an elementary level, I have left behind for good. God knows why I have come back to GI.Joe. Probably due to the fact that it was left largely to my imagination. I know we live in a diferent time now, but damn. I'm still holding out hope for resolute, but I'm done with the comics. May I ask why? There's only been one issue; that's not a whole lot to base a judgment on. I enjoyed the first issue well enough and will give each series at least a few issues of a chance.

While the story lacked BIG TIME, I rather like the art in G.I.Joe "EXTREEEEM!!", I also liked the art in the WWII Joe/Transformers cross over. I also dugg the solo Storm Shadow comics art, but I think ninjas are kinda stupid, so I passed on that series too. |
