How could you! Haha
It's funny how they treated Baroness. She wore more disguises than Zartan and dressed in more revealing wardrobes than Cover Girl. I think the writers had a crush on the voice actress and looked for ways to bring her into the story every chance they got. |

That voice is still one of the sexiest in cartoons.

Morgan Lofting gave the character life. I'd say hers is probably the second-most iconic voice in the show after Arthur Burghardt.
And he waited till she got dressed. Not sure that's a good sign. |

RAH #21* (which was published half a year before Revenge of Cobra aired) may have established a concrete connection between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, but the comics had Snake Eyes coded as a ninja in all but name right from issue #1, something that Sunbow really should have been paying attention to, especially given the exploding ninja craze of the time.
Honestly, as a kid I always just accepted it, because the show was kinda tongue in cheek like James Bond. But this explanation works too. And the Cobra vehicles would have to be able to be driven by any idiot just by necessity, lol. |

Even though I preferred comic / Marvel Baroness to the goofy cartoon version, it's true that the voice really brought her to life. Even today, people associate that Eastern European "Count Dracula" accent with The Baroness.

Oddly, the episode from which that still originates (Where the Reptiles Roam), really reinforces my contention that (in contrast with the Baroness) the Sunbow writing team either didn't know how or couldn't be bothered to use Snake Eyes in any effective way, because it starts with Alpine and Bazooka, of all people, attempting to infiltrate a Cobra computer lab and quickly being foiled by Bazooka's unbelievable clumsiness, while Snake Eyes, the honest-to-God trained ninja is left to twiddle his thumbs on lookout duty outside. *As a "Commando," Snake Eyes would logically be the team's demolition expert, since blowing up structures and materiel represents a major element of the traditional commando purview (and the original Snake Eyes figure came with a bundle of TNT with a detonator strapped to his left leg, after all), but in practice, this appears to be Zap's job in the early comics, leaving SE's role in the original team somewhat more nebulous. |

In those first 10 issues, he's shown to be a "commando*" who spends most of his time in the field climbing (with almost freakish agility) into trees and buildings to spy on people, who constantly covers his face with an exotic mask, wears all-black clothing, hangs out with an acknowledged expert in Japanese martial arts (who herself carries ninja weapons like shuriken as part of her standard loadout) and spends his off-time doing odd, Japanese warrior tradition-style activities like meditating for hours at a time in a sensory deprivation tank. Further, in keeping with the ninja aesthetic, Kwinn calls Snake Eyes "shadow man" and notes that he has "the eyes of a shaman," thus adding a touch of ninja-style mysticism to the character. Plainly, he was never meant to be "just a commando."

He was a *designated* commando with the personality and skill-set of a ninja, i.e. he was a ninja.
The difference is one of degree, not kind. We can complain now about Snake Eyes being an unbeatable demigod, but the fact is that Hama was indicating right from the beginning that his abilities exceeded those of any normal human being. |
