DT really isn't worth talking to. They are either legitimately mentally ill, or a troll account. They will never stop posting the same thing on repeat, even if both the twins make it into Classified. They are a broken record at this point. If I were in your shoes I would not waist my breath.

You mean aside from the half-dozen Classified new figures and reships? And the (shockingly) robust retail line for Snake Eyes?
It might not be what you all WANTED, or delivered straight to your lap, but I find it disingenuous to say that this back half of the year has been "vapor" for a brand that was nigh on non-existent 18 months ago. GI Joe still has to prove itself as a viable retail brand. Release speed and variety will pick up as retailer confidence continues to improve. We're doing pretty solid for a brand absent the mass retail landscape for nearly 5 and a half years.

I'd love to have a big increase in product and ambition for Classified. This line can sell like hotcakes... they just have to produce the stuff. |

They can't keep going at this snail's pace, can they? Breaker, Commando Snake Eyes, and BBQ were the last reveals - and that was how long ago? June? Revealing 3 items every 4 months does not bode well. I get bored in the meantime and lose my interest. Not to mention the fact that I still have not gotten any of those items in hand yet - or even seen them in store.
I'd love to have a big increase in product and ambition for Classified. This line can sell like hotcakes... they just have to produce the stuff. Meanwhile, Hasbro has gone silent for months at a time with GI JOE while occasionally sharing some links to licensed garbage on social media. I think my expectations are just higher with GI JOE because I see how things are going with MOTU and I don't understand why Hasbro can't put that kind of energy into this brand. It's not like MOTU had a huge retail presence for years leading up to 2019-2020 either. Now they've got two Netflix cartoons and three different toy lines with regularly scheduled reveals and releases. I know not all things are equal but it is hard to not draw some comparisons between the brands and how they are being handled.

That's just too fucking rich! I love supposedly grown-ass adults who obsess over kid's toys calling others mentally ill. Jesus fuck, you do know you're an aberration, right? Normal adults don't give a fuck about toys beyond the ones their kids want and/or those of the sexual variety, but here we all are, spending way too much time talking seriously about this stupid shit. Seriously, no adult who collects toys is standing on firm enough mental or emotional ground to pass mental health judgements on anyone.
Adult toys come in many different shapes and sizes. Thinking that collecting the action figure variety is enough to say one is mentally unstable is stupid. One guy from work put it this way “boys don’t change, their hobbies just get more expensive”. Someone who collects AR15s could be considered just as much of a looney as us. Who the fuck needs 20 1300 dollar ARs? No one, there is no way to make a practical excuse for having that many. The same goes with motorcycles, miniatures, dioramas, painting, video games, etc. Some people simply collect seeds or postal stamps. What about those stupid lifted pavement princess trucks? The dumb RAMs that are lifted, yet useless offroad, bad for hauling a trailer, and bad work trucks in general. Those are nothing besides big hot wheels cars. They just exist to have fun. This can be said for just about anything an adult uses to cool off with and take a break, they are all toys. Some are just more expensive, and more complex. The underlying factor is that to a degree none of those things are practical. Sure you can say that one might need at least a few AR15s, maybe a truck gun, house gun, long barrel AR10, and a 22 to kill rodents with. But most gun collectors don’t simply buy guns to use them for a practical purpose. They have a few to fit that need, but the rest are for reasons just a s stupid as “its from COD”, or “its from a movie”, or “it looks cool bro”, or “cus fuck it, why not”. Fuck maybe we are more sane then anyone else. At least by collecting Joes we aren't spending 60,000 on a truck we don’t need. Or building monthly AR’s that drain our savings accounts. Or just shooting ammo that is hard to get anyways. We do none of that. Most of us seem to just buy a few figures a month, and make a big investment a few times a year. And unlike cars which lose value, or ammo wich you can’t regain its lost value after shooting it, you can sell your figures. So maybe we are the most mature, most financially responsible adults with hobbies out there. DT’s problem can happen to anyone in any of those other realms of adult entertainment. Addiction and mental illness happens all the time to many different people. |

So for clarification purposes. In November of 2020, Hasbro revealed Flint and Lady Jaye and until then did not reveal any new figures until April when they revealed the movie figures. That's a 5 month wait between reveals. So from June until now is almost the same amount of time. Just have to be patient. I am hoping the reveals this Saturday are good and that they are focusing the whole event of classified means we get more reveals than we did last year at Pulsecon when they revealed 4 new Classified and also retro.
Does anyone else find it interesting that one of the people on the panel at this year's Pulsecon is an engineer? I wonder what that means. This year if you include the movies figures (which I personally passed on, we got 15 new figures (16 if you include Timber as a figure). And they also rereleased a lot of the CI figures people missed out on from 2020. That seems pretty good overall in the grand scheme of things. And if the rumored list for 2022 is remotely true than we have some great figures coming out to look forward to, some of who may be revealed in a few days time. In the immortal words of Aaron Rodgers "R-E-L-A-X". |

Now, if 'retro' was truly 'retro' - As in 3/4" Newly Sculpted O-Ring figures a-la Matthew Lecroy's stuff... I'd be all over it. That line would be awesome. As is, the retro line is just a poor continuation of the 25th / modern-era line... |

I couldn't care less about retro. Bring on all All-Classified!

My o-ring figures may have lost a thumb or a crotch along the way but they never lost their entire forearm straight out of the package. Long live the o-ring JOEs!

We're doing pretty solid for a brand absent the mass retail landscape for nearly 5 and a half years. I have to agree. There haven't been any figures sitting on shelves. They all sell out. The one time I did see 4 cobra Commanders in Walmart, they were gone the next week. The fact that they have had to make second runs is great news. It means there is more support than anticipated, what ever they thought it would be. So we know at minimum, they are selling more than they thought they would. In a perfect world those second runs wouldn't exist, they would be new figures, but I would rather greater support to keep the ball moving, than them being able to predict the precise sale numbers, then complain its not enough and cancel the line. |
