Do any of you remember the 2005 TRU exclusive Moray?
https://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/05/morayhydrofoil/ IIRC, it was actually manufactured in Rhode Island, and is the last Hasbro Joe toy made in the US. It retailed for something like $55-60 in 2005, and was a hard-sell as a result. Thankfully they didn't produce many of them. Now, of course, people pay silly money for them on ebay. Anyway, that price-point is a good example of why most things aren't made in the U.S. anymore. Sucks, but we want our stupid shit for cheap!

Still, I'd sacrifice stuff like this to have America's soul back. |

Could you imagine the positive PR of announcing they are manufacturing toys, and Gi Joes no less, in America?!

The problem is that everyone wants to bring manufacturing back home, but few are willing to pay for it. We are literally going to globe-hop around, constantly chasing the cheap product, until there are no nations left with a low enough standard of living to produce our ultimately useless knick-knacks.

I got my Retro Cobra Officer in from Hasbro online this weekend. It was packaged in a box with the air bag padding. Card is in perfect shape, not that I'll keep it carded though. Hopefully I can either find a Grunt in stores or Hasbro will ship Grunt soon.

Bryan Flynn of Super7 gave an interview I think with Pixel Dan back in August where he went into detail how NOW it costs basically the same amount to manufacture toys in China as it does the U.S. He said once you figure in all the shipping, problems, and other costs he said they are not really saving anything anymore. So much so he looked into opening his own factory here in the U.S. He said he decided not to though because he did not want to have to deal with opening up and running a factory then. It's been a while since I watched that video but that is what I remember the take away being.
Yeah, that's why companies are moving out of China and into Vietnam and etc, as Satanjaku points out below...next stop, Africa! Quote:
Yes, but as Smokebellew points out above, I can also imagine (and remember) the price tag.

I feel like Funko would be the type of toy company that would attempt bringing some of their manufacturing home in order to skirt around the much higher transport costs. This is either a distribution center or...
