I've noticed Chuck Dixon mentions a former romance between Scarlett and Duke, but we never actually see it. Also, is she supposed to have feelings for Snake Eyes, or is she loyal to him for saving her life?

The S/D romance is already post-breakup when we "meet" them and she seems conflicted about SE instead of "His Girl Friday." I liked the writing on this because she was made a more independent, capable character. She looked gorgeous, for an illustrated character, too. This version of Scarlett was one that I could see running the Joes.

Just finished Snake Eyes: Agent of Cobra. Not bad, but it was a very short run.
Sad there are no more stories written by Costa to read. |

Cobra (Costa/Gage/Fuso) without a doubt - I've said it before, it's a series I would feel completely confident recommending to a non Joe fan, it's that good.
Otherwise, while I enjoyed DDP at the time, I feel like I appreciate it more as time goes on. |

Brandon Jerwa's run with DDP was fun at the time, though not sure if it holds up now. The fan service and interaction on the DDP forum helped. His Red Shadows story did seem rushed I order to relaunch as America's Elite.
I enjoyed parts of the IDW continuity, especially the Cobra and Cobra Files series. I binge read a lot of it during the initial covid lock down. I lost interest with the Fred Van Lente run and didn't bother much after that apart from Cobra Files and the Sanke Eyes/Storm Shadow resolution. |
