Destro armed the militias, and Cobra did the psyops to set the militias up under false flags. This was so Cobra would profit from public-private partnership contractor status with the Federal Government. This wasn't overnight. Let's assume that Cobra Commander has had some of this psyop running in the background prior to Destro being brainwashed back with Cobra. Mainframe has had time to get a job working on microwave radio towers in the civilian world. Stalker is doing sniper work in Hindu Kush although I'm not sure if he is ever identified as being a civilian mercenary, special ops, Army Ranger, or what. Regardless, some time has passed for these guys to not only get over the disbanding of the Joe team. They have also moved on in their lives and are well into their new career fields. Guess the time needed for this massively complicated public deception campaign by Cobra to foment, and for the Joes to move on and be established in something else. My guess is 12 to 18 months. I think 6 months is too soon. 12 would be Cobra really pushing all the buttons. But if the structure of the psyop / false flag is already set up prior to 155 through Crimson Guards, then really it just comes down to how long it takes for Destro to upgrade their arms. As we've seen in recent history, this kind of thing can actually happen in a matter of months. So, maybe on the low end of the timeline is at least plausible. How long do you personally think it was?

Now that I've been thinking about it for awhile, I think from now on I'll just consider it "one year later." Simple. Seems to fit the timeline.

issue 263
"Some Gave All." Special Memorial Day issue. Tommy and Lonzo are at the Vietnam Memorial. The black marble wall begins to show flashbacks to the LRRP crew, as if reflections in the stone surface. Tommy references Lonzo's bad dreams and nightmares. This was the subject of issue 251, so this is a direct reference to that. Interestingly, Stalker suggests that Tommy has either been talking to Psych-Out, who would be violating patient privacy rules, or Spirit who would be acting uncharacteristically “talkative” to be telling Lonzo’s private life out-of-turn. This specifically touches on the conversation between Lonzo and Spirit in 251, when Charlie is suggesting that he do a sweat hut for Lonzo to address the nightmare problems. Lonzo is instead leaning towards talking to Psyche-Out, which Spirit wants him to avoid because it would go on his permanent military record. This conversation with Tommy therefore establishes that Lonzo did indeed eventually talk to Psyche-Out. However, this conversation with Tommy also establishes that Lonzo forgot that Rock and Roll knows he has been having these dreams also, and so I suggest that neither Psyche-Out nor Spirit gossiped about his dreams but rather Rock and Roll blabbed. That seems more in-character as well. "Richard Saperstein" can be seen engraved in the stone surface, as well as names like "Herbert W. Trimpe," "Russell Heath," "Marie Severin," and certainly some other comic book creators whose names I don't recognize. Ramon is next on the list, but the guys meet Wade Collins at his name. Tommy and Wade have both brought Ramon a bottle of Tabasco sauce. Wade asks them about Sean and how he is doing. One of the men responds "you'd be proud, Wade." In Arlington, Duke and Roadblock visit the graves of Avalanche, Blaster, Breaker, Blocker, Crazylegs, Maverick, Quick Kick, Doc and General Flagg. Flagg's gravestone shows that he was in Korea and Vietnam. Born 1932, died 1983. They salute him. Their first appearance is referenced, right here in Arlington. The reason they showed up in battle gear instead of dress greens is explained. Doc's parents are met at the gravestone of Doc. His mother explains that she spent much of her life after his death toiling in resentment, but after reading his journals she has forgiven his comrades. In San Francisco, Budo Raymond and Milo honor the Hard Master and the Soft Master. In Utah at the PIT, there is an open-boots ceremony honoring fallen Joes. In Japan, Obaake brings photos of the Hard Master and the Soft Master to a shrine. Four Red Ninjas begin to attack but she threatens them and they run away. In Darklonia, military snipers await Katya's arrival at Sneak-Peak's gravestone. She gets the drop on them. On Staten Island, Clutch and Sean feed some orphans. Clutch makes a bad joke about "missals." Somehow the Chaplain's Assistants have forgotten that time the entire base was crated because of the secret compound below. One of the Chaplain's Assistants looks suspicious like Father Mulcahy. Scarlett gets a hot dog and cries alone on the Staten Island Ferry. At Snake-Eyes cabin, Timber howls at the moon. There is a distracting and garish green ad for Artificial Intelligence on the facing page. This uses that green I have both complained about for being too bright and cartoonish and also I have appreciated for being distinct and unique to the Blue Ninja Queen. In the letters page Larry promises to resolve the Blur Ninjas "in the next year." This was published in April 2019. So it has been 2-1/2 years (or so) since then. However I don't believe the Blur Ninjas have appeared again since this story arc "Artificial Intelligence" which this Memorial Day issue interrupts so maybe the next time will be the final time. We should all write a letter-writing campaign at the same time to remind him of this statement: [email protected]

This brings up an interesting question. In issue 1, Hawk refers to him as "Young General Flagg"...so just how old is Hawk!? (I guess he's just saying young based on the recency of the promotion or other generals' ages?)
