I tend to think of Costa's story as a "one hit wonder." He couldn't keep the story going, so he killed off the main character. Like "Resolute" it was an awesome singularity, but as for long term episodes... Not so much imho. I honestly believe that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" vibe would serve this boy's property better. (My opinions are conjecture, obviously. I think they're right, but that doesn't make them fact.)

Yes. The only problem I can see with those is that some of the plots were beyond ludicrous! LOL! Keep it fun but don't completely destroy all suspension of disbelief. The giant exploding fruits and vegetables comes to mind...

I agree. The backgrounds and vehicles are very strong. The anatomy is generally good. There are a few panels with wonky anatomy and the faces are a little rushed or smudgy in other places.

I'd recommend collecting through at least Volume 12 for the conclusion of the Benzheen conflict, which was essentially the last great storyline from the original run. The apex of the run was probably circa Issue #50 and the Invasion of Springfield along with the immediate aftermath leading to the "death" of the original CC. There are still good stories after this but the quality begins to take a dip, if ever so slightly.

I loved the original run. Yes the last couple of years really showed the concept was running out and the need to bring the new toys in didn’t help.
I bought the new run until snakes was killed and Sean was snake eyes reborn and it just got too repetitive. I see read them from time to time online but sold all my physical copies after 155. Larry was great in the day but I think he needs to write a proper wrap up to the original series sent in the nineties.
