New Talking Joe episode covering #286 -
Youtube: https://youtu.be/flQCPzU4mbY Audio Podcasts links: https://talkingjoe.co.uk/ Mark and Tim chat about the latest issue of G.I. Joe and we are joined by the artist of the book Andrew Lee Griffith! We go into a lot of detail specifically on issue 286 but also talk extensively about his journey to working on 286, his process and about the murder by assassination arc. You guys have some quirky, but fun, musical themes. |

Honestly, despite the rough final 35 or 40 issues, ride it out to the end. 155 is a masterpiece of comic book prose, despite the questionable art.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks the art was so bad. I think it was above average and think that the artist faithfully researched issue #26.
I definitely prefer this version of Vietnam Snake Eyes to Jerwa's chatty Snake Eyes in "Declassified." Also, Snake Eyes still wasn't an accepted part of the group under Stalker there like he is here when Stalker takes over. Snake Eyes and Tommie serving together before could explain why Tommy was so confident to approach him. This reunion would naturally bring them even closer together. If there are to be any deaths in upcoming comics, I prefer non action figure characters like Dawn and Sherlock. I have no attachment to these superfluous one-hit one-offs. Hama should clean house that way because he probably won't accidentally bring them back from the dead, which is now a habit. Remember, G.I. JOE needs to be fun before it's dark and gritty. There's plenty of mature comics out there and G.I. JOE will not have better stories by being graphically realistic imho. It needs to return to being a young boy's action-adventure escapist fantasy set in mysterious, exotic locales if it wants to remain palatable (again: imho). Edit: Oh, and did anyone catch that old "Rainbow6" himself was the letter of the month? Man, Jerwa used to hate that guy because of all of his negative e-mails! He even killed off a Green Shirt with his name in one of the DDP comics! Last edited by seaneley; 10-02-2021 at 02:43 PM.. |

To your point, I feel Hama's Special Missions are the best representation of G.I. Joe because of the fun factor. |
