We often ask about shrinking heads, but has anyone worked with expanding heads? I'm not talking about 1:18 scale to 6" scale. I'm just talking about making 1:18 scale heads that are kind of small a little bigger.
I've heard of Dremeling out the head and pouring water in the cavity, then freezing the head (water/ice expands as it freezes), but has anyone ever tried using expandable foam (like insulation)? I like the 25th Snake Eyes head sculpt, but it is too small even for the POC body, and I'd like to make a custom Snake Eyes head to go with the Retro Stalker body. Any info and/or advice is appreciated. Jason |

I believe both processes use the same material. You make a cast with the material. You let it dry out to shrink or you soak it in water to expand the cast.

I've used Mold Star to create a mold of the head, then soaked it in mineral spirits to get the mold to expand. I've had good results with that method.

I'm able to do that using a non-mold method. I have a 3d scanner, then upsize the file in Blender, then print it with a 3d printer. Pretty simple.
