I understand that. I'm not very knowledgeable in in all this but if it doesn't make sense to me I'm going to question it...
Snake Eyes: Released July 23...$35,000,000 Worldwide to date The Suicide Squad: Released August 6...$118,000,000 Worldwide to date If Snake Eyes made $118,000,000 just 12 days after being released I think we could say it was more of a success than what we are saying now. I mean, at least at $118,000,000 Snake Eyes would have more than broken even right? And movie math traditionally is a movie has to make 3x it's budget at world wide box office to be profitable and go beyond break even point. This also highly depends how much they spent on marketing. At a budget of 88 mil, Snake Eyes needed to make around 264 million to be a success or break even. The movie though does have one thing going for it and that it wasn't heavily marketed, unlike movies like Black Widow and others that had advertising going on and money being spent on marketing for a year, superbowls, and other big time expensive ads.....Snake Eyes only was marketed for about a month and a half. Still the movie is gonna struggle to break even. It still has not opened in around 70% of international markets (Japan is in October, China has no date) so the movie still will bring in more money, but enough to break even is gonna be tough and unlikely. But most movies are underperforming, even those doing "ok" are still being considered disappointments and some studios talking about delaying their films further. Jungle Cruise with a budget of 200 mil is a huge flop with it's numbers. Black Widow is going to be the weakest release for a marvel movie ever potentially, Fast and Furious 9 also under performed. Even without Covid, would Snake Eyes have even broken even? Unlikely, it would have for sure made more money but I doubt it was gonna succeed with how bad it performed. The reviews from critics who aren't GI Joe fans really didn't help, for a movie that has no real star power and not well known with many folks nowadays, they really needed critics to like the movie and the reviews for Snake Eyes were pretty bad |

Hate to break it to you guys but the movie didn't live up to the hype. They are not even releasing it in Brazil which is a fair size movie market. If your not even going to bother pushing it after a fresh release you know it kind of was eh to begin to with.

Clearly, the film has underperformed and combined with spiking COVID cases, Paramount is clearly trying to milk a little extra cash from the film before it hits Paramount Plus and other venues.

Its a shame the movie was a cross between a Fast and the Furious, Mortal Kombat and Ninja film, barely GI Joe in there, at some points early on its easy to forget it is actually a GI Joe movie!
Plus taking the mystery away from the SE character is a big no-no, the mystery is part of what’s cool about the actual character. Sadly, Pramount/Hasbro missed the mark again… hopefully the Amazon Lady Jaye series shows them how to do GI Joe right! Yeah… right lol. |

So anyone know if the streaming numbers are helping with profits? Or is it really has much of a letdown as so many fans said?

It doesn't leave much hope for any future Joe releases. I have seen this more times than probably any other person on the planet at this point and I would say it's the best Gi Joe live action movie. Which I know really isn't saying all that much.

I think this movie was the nail in the coffin. It had to lose the studio and hasbro so much money. I found it good in a generic action movie kinda way, but for Joe it was just not there. The fact Di Bonaventure(?) Keeps getting work on these properties is baffling. The man who got CC's hooded look canceled should not be allowed near these movies ever again. It's so sad that the things we grew up with keep getting more and more damaged.
