The one thing that gives me a bit of hope going forward is the fact that the Power Rangers: LC seems to be plodding along well enough... but again, I genuinely don't know whether or not that franchise has maintained a young fanbase, has had any recent media, or even perhaps just has a larger cult of middle aged men out there supporting it. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next year or so. Edit: to add to the above a little, I'd be genuinely curious to find out how many Classified figures ended up going to kids that weren't the children of Joefans.

Well my nephew maybe would be interested in the Fortnite Snake Eyes but only because it's Fortnite. Not to mention I doubt many kids are getting those. My 11 year old cousin doesn't care about action figures unless they're wrestling figures. None of my nieces have any interest in GI Joe. I doubt a cartoon would move the needle at all. It would probably take a Avengers like movie to see any of my young family members interested in buying Joes.
If I'm mistaken Power Rangers gets a reboot/new series every two years. I haven't watched the latest incarnation but new episodes were coming on Nickelodeon. As for the Snake Eyes movie flopping I think the Lady Jaye show is what I think we need to watch the progress of. I think the cartoon will probably movie forward but I could see a budget and or episode count cut. And to be honest I could see Mortal Kombat getting a sequel before SE. By the way the SE logo on the side of the basic figures is kinda awesome. |

Holy crap guys are you really that oblivious? The movie, you know the F-ing thing Hasbro was really banking on and the reason for all these new toys, is a massive flop and going to LOSE TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. So there is bound to be some fallout from that. That is all people are saying. Nothing has been announced so far but I would bet that some things do get canceled that are already in the works.
But I agree with you, there will be fallout. I do agree that some things will get canceled. But will it be the death of the line? I doubt it. That's what I was saying. What I believe is that any future waves of the 6inch movie figures will be what's canceled. I believe the production of more Snake Eyes role play toys will be halted. I believe that any further media/cartoons that were probably supposed to branch off this Snake Eyes movie will probably get canned. I don't believe Classified will be canceled. I don't believe the Retro line will be canceled. Super7, I assume, will probably carry on with their Sunbow projects. I hope, I truly hope, Hasbro will come up with a decent cartoon for the kids and an even more decent cartoon for us. I'm sure the Lady Jaye series will see the light of day. So all in all, what I was referring to when I said, "The end of the line talk has always been a thing here, no matter what happens", is that people here have been preaching "Deth Uv Duh Line!!!" since before Rise of Cobra, but it carried on, in some form or another, but we still managed to continue to get more figures. So I won't say this is the end until we truly see no more Joes available. |

Every day at work, I listen to children discuss their daily routines in great detail. Including, naturally, what toys and games they are into*. And not once have I heard any child mention G.I. Joe, unfortunately. Power Rangers, yes (particularly the one with dinosaurs). G.I. Joe, no.
* Various video games, LEGOs, Treasure X Aliens, L.O.L. Surprise!, JunkBots, and so on.

No child-focused toys. The only toys are collector-focused and the distribution is no small one collector can come in buy every single figure on the pegs. I believe, in order for the GI Joe brand to reach the younger crowds there should be toys like, GI Joe: Mighty Heroes with vehicles and playsets to match, GI Joe: Legos, GI Joe action figures with articulation without tiny ass accessories with vehicles and playsets to match, a GI Joe: Mighty Heroes style cartoon, commercials for those toys, and those toys need to have a little presence in the stores than what we're seeing now, which is what? One, two, maybe pegs of an assortment of two or three characters? |

My guesses, on the reason why that is...
1. No modern, child focus cartoon. 2. No other, child-focused media like movies, TV shows, commercials, etc. 3. No child-focused toys. The only toys are collector-focused and the distribution is no small one collector can come in buy every single figure on the pegs. However, I feel there is a lack of synergy between the brand name G.I. Joe and the it's content. BBI's Elite Force is what a toyline called G.I. Joe should look like. What we've had since the 80s is a mash-up of things like ninjas, robots, monsters, etc. A toyline that cool deserves a brand name that better encapsulates that mixture. Unfortunately, Action Force is taken, but Hasbro can repurpose Battle Corps or Battle Force (assuming they still have the trademark). |

You'd win over the kiddies - and the adult collectors would also love it. |

Here is the fix: stop trying to make movies - and stop trying to 'update' the story. Instead, create an animated streaming series... a-la Clone Wars. Don't dumb it down. In fact - make it an adaptation of Marvel's GIJoe comic series. The stories are there. Just ADAPT them and animate them. Don't re-write them. Don't make Snake Eyes a jerk looking to avenge his father. Follow the original stories very closely... only updating things to modernize them - like creating a fake modern conflict to replace the Vietnam War. Don't 'kiddie-fy' it. Keep it borderline mature - with deaths, scary parts, violence, etc. Kids hate being talked down to.
