The good thing is that the MTF helmet is an excellent sculpt once you spend a few hours cleaning out all the mold flashing the front rim and cut/sand the rim even. My OCD is concerned that the front plug in thing is too modern, not eighties enough, hence an anachronism threatening my space-time continuum. Anyone know when the army first introduced that to helmets? |

ROCK N ROLL (2021 Retro Collection Concept)
2021-08-01_11-37-09 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr This was pretty much finished last week, but I couldn’t get pictures done until now. Basically the same build as the Breaker concept figure with different paint colors (Tamiya NATO Brown, Tamiya OD//Olive Drab), and replacing the Stalker webgear with ammo belts from [CLASSIFIED]. 2021-08-01_02-25-59 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr The head is a repainted 2020 Retro Crankcase one—I really wanted to use that head for someone in this new Retro OG13 collection. It was a showdown between Clutch and RnR at the end because I decided that Breaker would have a beard but not a sculpted one. Ultimately, the hair on the MTF bearded head for Clutch decided it all. Even so, I waited on posting RnR for a week to make sure. 2021-08-01_11-34-49 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr The three bearded ones above are the “greenshirts” of the OG13 I definitely wanted for my new Retro Collection set, joining the big 4 (Hawk, Stalker, Scarlett, Snake Eyes) for what I like to call my Hama Seven—boiling down the group to team size more in line with what you’d see in a team comic. 2021-08-01_02-26-46 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Admittedly, I’m still not sold on the MTF vest I use for Clutch. However I’m not shelling out $30+ for another 25th Clutch figure simply for that vest (which I’m not sure I can modify to fit the way I want). For Breaker, I was considering different heads but will settle for this repainted 25th Breaker head until Hasbro reveals//releases another OG13 new build figure. 2021-08-01_02-27-46 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Above is a composite of my New RnR with a pic of my 25th RnR from 2017. That 25th was heavily modified to get the right look and right figure height for this character. That 25th figure was also painted in basic Testors Acrylic colors (Dark Green, Leather). However with the discontinuation of that paint line, I am trying to use Tamiya paints for all new and future figures. Tamiya paints have been doing the job, but nothing equally replaces those Testors Acrylics in my book. 20210801_143601 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 20210801_145113 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Of course most of the 25th OG figures use the same SE upper and lower torso, and the lower torso is just too short compared to later modern figures. Also, the 25th OG figure webgear is sized for that lower torso, basically making it unusable on any OG13 builds trying to use later taller//better torsos. Fortunately Hasbro has given us new OG13 webgear harness to works for taller torso figures. 2021-08-01_02-25-18 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr My driving motivation for working on all these new OG13 concept figures with the new Stalker base was having more OG13 figures that were more in scale with the rest of my Joe collection. The above picture is probably not the best picture to show the improvement though. I was hoping for better scale matching here but my Roadblock and Gung-ho are uniquely massive in height compared to the rest of my Joe shelf figures. 2021-08-01_02-24-39 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr I have been working on finishing my Snake Eyes this weekend as well. They (?) are both done, but took much longer than anticipated, due to--- TO BE CONTINUED!!! 2021-08-01_11-36-11 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 2021-08-01_11-36-23 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 2021-08-01_11-34-08 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 2021-07-18_02-35-31 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 20210718_170725~2 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr 2021-08-01_11-36-45 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr

This is my favorite thread on the entire internet. I was around for the first wave of joes and these hold a special place in my heart. Currently working on customs and getting (back after selling my collection after a divorce) the 82/83 versions of the OGs. This thread both inspires me and reminds me how much my customs suck!!

HHFF,
Your RnR is amazing! I'm sure that Hasbro will use the same torso and legs for more O13 characters, but seeing your custom makes me wonder about how they will do the rolled sleeves for Breaker, RnR, and Clutch. RnR is one of the few O13 characters that I think this torso really works with. Since I've already expressed my love for the POC Snake Eyes/DG Shipwreck build for my O13 customs, I do think the Stalker torso is a better choice for RnR and would even keep some of the consistency of the same ribbed shirt design. Hmmm... you've got me thinking now. I love the choice you made in using the Crankcase head sculpt, and the hint of gold paint in the yellow beard is nice. Jason
