Here is my WIP for a Marine Sniper. I don't have pics of the Ghille, but I made one using some material I bought at he local hobby shop, I keep forgetting to take pics of the suit.
Anyhow, using a standard CP Duke body, with some modifications I came up with this. I was going for the one-piece flight suit look. I will probably paint him a solid OD green color, havent got the patience to try and apply the MARPAT design yet. I replaced the shoulder pouches with sculpted slanted pockets and added pockets to the upper torso along with a collar. Made his sleeves rolled up at the bottom, and added the appearance of Nomex tactical flight gloves. I plan on putting a holster for a sidearm, suppressed .45, on his right leg and then moving the knife sheath over to his left leg. Not sure on what head sculpt to use yet. I have a Duke head on standby, but I will trim down the chipmunk cheeks and repaint the hair brown if I use him. Yes... that is an exacto punture wound on my finger tip... taht one hurt like a Beeeyaaaach! Last edited by Marine_Deadpool; 01-20-2009 at 04:28 AM.. |

Ok, so I got a few options as far as which rifle to give my sniper. I have finished the Sniper... However I am kinda stuck on deciding which rifle to give him.
Here are the ones to choose from... From top to bottom is the Barret .50, 2 Designated Marksman M-14 Rifles with folding stocks, fixed stock DMR, and M-21/M40-A1. THe two folding stock rifles are a littel big, but I though about dremeling them down a little. Maybe make the stocks a little smaller so they look scale. What do you tankers think? I will be painting the weapon a green camo color to blend with the figure. Pics of completed Sniper to follw soon... Last edited by Marine_Deadpool; 01-31-2009 at 11:10 PM.. |

I'd go with the DMR, or if you can find one in 1/18th an M40A3. True Marine weapons.
Also, I recently read an article about the soon to come adaptation (by the Marines) of a variation of the M14EBR, forgot the designation, but you know Marauders sells one of them Im sure you could dremel a bit, and paint up to look real. EDIT: Where'd that DMR come from anyway?

I too would recommend the DMR. See if you can find a flash suppressor to put on the front.

I'd go with either the fixed stock M14, or the M40. Muzzle breaks don't seem to be very common on the M40, so I wouldn't worry about trying to put one on it.
I'm thinking that the real M14 can be loaded with .308 rounds, which would give a little more versatility over the M40. The M40's reciever is shortened from a standard Model 700 so that it can only take NATO 7.62 ammo. |
