So, I always sculpt directly on and then paint like normal after it cures (as its now part of the figure”). You’re gonna want the surface you’re adhering the sculpt too to be dry so it sticks. Keep your fingers and sculpting tools wet, but you’re bonding surfaces dry.
Never sculpted anything intending to remove it, but my guess would be to coat the surface with petroleum jelly.

Has anyone tried dyeing webgear? I imagine that paint would come off easily, if you stretch it to get it on/off figures.

I gave the Green Stuff a try on a practice figure:
I was quite happy with the results. I'll have to get some gloves so I don't leave prints and I'm still figuring out how some tools work (I also got those silicone brushes) but when it comes to the front of the Flashdance-style shirt, I'm happy. I painted it to see how easy it would be to paint on top of Green Stuff once it hardened and I gotta say, it was pretty easy: I'm still trying to figure out the head situation and find a decent throwing knife, but otherwise I think this third custom is very possible. |

Some good news in regards to the head fitting on a H.A.C.K.S body part. I cut around peg hole of the head to make it a little bigger (I don't own a Dremmel yet, so I had to use an Xacto Knife) While it didn't fit on the test body I used the Green Stuff on, I tried it on the torso of the female zombie fighter figure I bought that I was gonna use for the custom. It fit! It slides over the neck peg and is at the height I want. It's a lucky break, for sure. I'm just waiting on a few more pieces, then I can get started on this custom.

I picked up some JoyToy figures and was curious how fragile are they when disassembling. I'm always worried about new brands, so I'm sure someone has boiled and popped limbs on them before, do they tear or break easily?

I’d like to know how it goes, saw a pair of upper legs that might work on a project.

I’ve definitely heard they’re fragile. I only have one, but it doesn’t seem too fragile. A lot of people work with them now. Slice could probably offer some insight if he was still around, and orzo has started working with them, so maybe he could help out.

JoyToys ain’t fragile at all, none of my lot are anyways, they seem a lot tougher than modern GI Joe thats for sure. Last edited by LEEE777; 07-20-2021 at 08:56 PM.. |
