That sigil is the real deal and is not a sticker or a heat transfer. It was from a local toy shop that had bought a collection from someone who took REALLY good care of their joes, even saving the card backs. They were a bit more expensive, but super minty. The Recondo is from that same group, along with several of the previous items shown(The Eels and Crimson Guard from the previous post-their sigils are top notch too, also the Snow Serpent, Snake Eyes v2, Viper, and Barbecue from previous haul posts-all were in mint condition).

Here are some closer pictures of the Officer. Tell me what you think. His paint is superb and doesn't look touched up at all. For $90 he'd better be legit lol. Anyone is welcome to come to my house to see it in person if they like. They had a Cobra Soldier there in the same mint condition with an untouched red sigil as well(wanted $120-no thanks).
Here are pictures of the file card as well. Seems these are the person's original joes, and all the file cards are like this, where they cut out the card to get at the flag points, then taped the card back to the top section. The Recondo one even has the pictures on the back "X"-ed out to show which ones they had, which I think is cool. Last edited by Goldchains; 07-18-2021 at 07:27 PM.. |

It's hard to tell from photos, especially given how much the forum compresses them. Some things to look for in-hand:
- Does the sigil paint have a flat finish (authentic) or slightly sparkly and flaked (repro)? - Looking at the figure from top down, does the gray on the shoulder pads match from the front of the torso to the back? Black Major used to sell repro chest pieces on their own for people to swap onto figures with lost sigils. The shoulder pads on his torso front would often not match the original torso back. - How many stripes does the sigil have on each side? Should be 8, including the tiny nub at the bottom. (This in itself is not a reliable indicator of authenticity, unfortunately. Black Major has sometimes done sigils with the correct number of stripes. But if it's less than 8, it's probably repro.) As a last check, open the figure and look at the interior cavity. BMs look different inside than Hasbro. I don't have a photo handy but here's a video showing Cobra Trooper differences. If yours is authentic, $90 is a pretty fair price for that condition at current market values, so you did well. Last edited by Josh Z; 07-19-2021 at 11:20 AM.. |

Well, it has a flat finish, the correct number of 8 nubs, the shoulder pads line up, the interior front matches the patina on the back interior, and the patina on the torso matches the waist/legs/helmet/arms.
Knowing the provenance and condition of the other figures from the same collection I've bought, I'm going to go with authentic. Thank you for letting me know though, I was questioning it too and wanted to make sure as well. Last edited by Goldchains; 07-19-2021 at 05:08 PM.. |

More Action Figure Frenzy!!!
Got a Road Pig to complete my Dreadnok faction. Of course my local toy shop had a Grape Soda BATS for sale which I couldn't pass up lol: Some 80s love: Some 90s love: All were complete, except the Shipwreck which was missing the pistol and boarding hooks(if anyone has them for sale/trade, let me know). Good stuff all around and I am now over 200 figures in the collection. |

I thought it was pretty awesome too, and looks great with the rest of the faction. I know I broke my vintage only rule, but ah well I figure I was going to do that eventually.
