Not at all.
My question was slightly off topic. I was trying to ascertain if Law was always meant to be Hispanic. His surname wouldn't indicate that. On a similar note, I was surprised that Shipwreck had a Hispanic surname. Thankfully, they didn't play into that with a stereotypical accent in the Sunbow series. |

LMAO Very true!
The more I ponder Snake Eyes as a character, the less sense he makes. By the time Hawk and Stalker went to recruit him for G.I. Joe he was collecting disability checks. After all, what good is a soldier who can't speak. The armed forces disqualify people from enlisting for less. |

I always took Shipwreck’s heritage to be either from Spain or Portugal, more of a European descent than any of the various Latin American ethnicities. Spain and Portugal had great navies in their history and were prolific sailors. Also off the top of my head I think Shipwreck was from San Diego? I always took Hector Delgado’s family to have been in the US for multiple generations possibly working near or around the west coast shipyards. Edit: Shippy is from Chula Vista Cali. My bad. But I was spot on about the Navy Yards.

Both were nameless (Eddie Ray is assumed to be the Unknown Soldier—also called The Immortal GI). Both were disfigured in war. SE lost his voice, US did not. Both are highly capable in battle, with US serving as a WWII intelligence agent. US wears bandages and is a master of disguise. He first appeared in ’66 and on into the ’70s before a reboot in this century.
