So I broke my own rule of staying away from incomplete vehicles, because of how much more expensive they can get by piecing them together vs just buying them complete. I made an offer on a near complete Warthog (I’ve been dying to get one), because I only saw that 2 missiles were missing, and getting 2 missiles would have still made completing the vehicle reasonably priced. On closer inspection after the purchase, I noticed that all 4 wheels where the tank treads are are also missing, so sourcing all 4 wheels brought me up another $20. It’s really my fault for not looking closer at the photos, as even though the photos were not well lit, the seller obviously tried to show the underside of the vehicle. Despite the stickers being in the wrong place, the condition looks pretty good. All in all I will have paid about $109 to complete the Warthog (without Slaughter), so not a great deal, and certainly not the deal I thought I was getting (again, my fault), but I do love the vehicle so it is what it is.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, just had to air my frustration. Last edited by Katana78; 06-20-2021 at 12:49 PM.. |

I feel you man. I'd guess most of us have been there; I certainly have more than once. To buy stuff on ebay that you think is complete or "complete enough", only to later spend money on parts or outright buy another one that's actually complete. I really do appreciate it when sellers go to the trouble of listing everything that's missing or damaged, but that's rare.

Not much of a consolation, but you did better than I did with the Warthog. I found what I thought was a pretty good one about 2 months back, missing just the antenna and the machine gun. When it arrived, 2 of the hooks on either side for holding the doors were broken along with several tabs around the missile turret and a broken chunk out of an edge. All of the interior restraint bars were also missing. I ended up buying a second Warthog with the missing parts and a decent hull just to complete it. I think I ended up spending about $130 all told (also without Slaughter), not including repro stickers to replace the originals.
Crummy, but it happens when you can't inspect used items in person before buying them. |

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've gotten incomplete vehicles and finding out it would have been cheaper buying a complete one.
After I made my custom Warthog using the Soldier force Steel Badger, I sold off my extra Warthog parts. Made quite a bit selling off the parts.

Crummy, but it happens when you can't inspect used items in person before buying them. I guess I’m just a little bummed because I dragged my feet in a near complete Warthog (only missing antenna) with Slaughter and box for $85 a few weeks ago, and now they’re all going for around $100 or more near complete without Slaughter. Oh well, that’s life… just hope this thing arrives unbroken. |

Here's my sad eBay story - years ago ordered a MOC Shockwave - didn't realize until later it likely was opened and repacked :(

Just suck it up and pay 200 dollars for a Target Rattler like ima do lol. But I've actually put vehicle purchases on hold because of the Retro line. You never know, might get a Rattler or Raven or Water Moccasin next! I'm afraid the second I drop 300 dollars on a boxed Zartan, they'll show pics of a Retro one for 25 dollars.
