I don't think that is a fair assessment. Classified being out or not wouldn't have had any bearing on his 1st results. Not saying that its not helping his cause now. Most KS fail to launch first time out and a lot of factors were involved with his not talking off. His, set goal was high, Some Joe fans had a sour taste for AF because of the name being used, some had issues with Bobby's choice of words etc.
Hell, Classified was initially met with harsh criticism form a large portion of this community. Many of whom only jumped on that band wagon only after the figures turned out to be scarce at retail and even more jumped on after the cobra Island figures. I will be the 1st to admit that I wanted a 6in Joe line since the birth of Marvel legends from toybiz yet I bashed the snot out of wave 1 classified, every figure looked like shit and they have only got better since its also no coincidence that they also have been getting closer to more accurate Arah representations since. |

They jumped on board when Hasbro started making the 6” figures in the style that they wanted to purchase. Not with wrong colors and wrong accessories like the first wave.

My purely unscientific reasoning for this is that those are the only two figures I've seen on pegs more than two or three times while out "hunting." By comparison the only non-exclusive figures I have never seen on pegs at all thus far are Wave 1 Snake-Eyes, Red Ninja, and Cobra Infantry. |

Except the first wave was still relatively scarce as far as mass retail figures go. I'd say only Roadblock has been "Easy" to find in stores, and in the second wave only Cobra Commander was particularly easy to get ahold of from what I've seen.

Certainly the pandemic has fueled the supply and demand of this market as well.

While I disagree with your Pov especially on Vala's review of 00 SE which I though was on point. I respect what you are saying. He is in the big leagues now and should be more mindful of how things he says and how he says them are going to be perceived. As far as the poster I thought that it was great at 1st but it also doesn't make much sense when in comes to the character. It had much more of a Samurai vibe than that of the Ninja and the more I looked at it the more I started to think someone just googled Japanese art and mashed those elements into the piece without ever think it completely through. The figure imo though was garbage and the retail release was actually much better looking. As far as him constantly bashing Hasbro it makes complete sense to me as he is a scorned former employee who feels wronged by the company. Not to mention it's well known how Bobby among others pushed for a 6in Joe line and was constantly told no only for the company to end up going down that road immediately after he was let go and launch of his own 6in line. Still I agree that publicly at least he should bite his tongue just a lil bit. The few interactions I have had with Bobby have all been very pleasant and I personally love his passion for this but he also comes off as a guy who isn't going pussy foot around to spare your feelings and if he doesn't like something he's gonna let you know. Which again to me is much more respectable than a fake person or yesman.
Maybe his very public vitriol towards Hasbro (and I AM NOT giving Hasbro a pass for their repeated Busch League fuck all attitude) irritates me BECAUSE he seems like a cool guy. I agree he doesn't BS. In this day and age that IS refreshing. However, there is just so much snarky garbage everywhere nowadays that unreproachable professionalism from anyone is a welcome change. If Vala did indeed press for a 6" line, put together a presentation and lock down design work, only to have it shut down that sucks. But that's the way of the pitch. It's possible that it wasn't the right time to launch a 6" line. Who knows. I know exactly what it feels like to bust your ass on a pitch, be told "NO", then see the idea come to fruition later. Without being involved. IT SUCKS. But continually bitching about it doesn't help anything. Again, I'll support his line because I like it. If the Proto Weapons pack is any indication of the quality then we're in for a treat. Those sculpts are sharp. A couple of the guns feel a bit big but, overall they are on point. I wish nothing but the best for the man.

Not gonna disagree. But if you go back even on hisstank and look at who was bitching about what and who was still buying them regardless. I am one included. I didn't like any of the 1st retail wave outside of SE being a better version than the exclusive I paid double for but I bought them anyway because one I wanted the display and two because I figured I could customize what I didn't like and would rather have them than pass on them and not find them again.

The Bludd figure looks very cool but personally my days are over collecting 6 to 7 inch scale long ago... a) You run out of room and shelf space, b) They are too expensive for the most part, well all that BS exclusive stuff is, c) You realise you will never get most of the cool vehicles or play sets... now that’s okay with superhero lines etc like Marvel and DC but not a line like GI Joe that needs a lot of the vehicles, so reckon that’s the most important one right there. I’m happy for the 6 inch collectors that are digging this but Hasbro should not forget the 1:18 line that made GI Joe the success it is today and ignore the hardcore 1:18, even O-ring fans, Retro is a far cry and a bit of a joke to all the great lines like POC etc from the past! Saying that, I could still buy a 6 inch Snake Eyes, just to display him with all my Marvel Legends, DC Direct etc, but that’ll be about it. Last edited by LEEE777; 06-07-2021 at 07:13 AM.. |

The Skystriker, HISS Tank, etc., are just as much characters as Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander. |
