I think ARAH has been dead a while now.

Not as convenient as having another mute, ninja-trained Army Ranger ready to take his place, when he died.

To be fair, the replacement wasn't mute until he rode a giant robot into outer space and got hurt hanging on for dear life on reentry, so in this case it's a little more plausible than you standard comic fare.

With the death of snake eyes (and in such a nonsensical way-charging with a grenade instead of just throwing it back), and then the sean and dawn stuff, in my opinion Hama took my favorite all time comic series and chunked it in the garbage. Like 8 years or whatever of blue ninjas didn’t help along with a little vomit of political commentary.
I used to think Hama comics were above pretty much all other comics (and maybe they still are but that isn’t saying much). But now, He has ruined the book for me. I’d rather consider his ongoing series non canon that accept the crap he’s done since. Of course, he could easily fix a lot of this mess, just have it that snake eyes and hawk staged the death (they knew serpentor would be trouble in advance) so he could go deep undercover to finally, once and for all, eliminate the blue ninja threat. It would actually elevate the lousy for-no-reason charge with grenade death scene rather than detract from it. Win win solution. I don’t think Hama will do it though. When he ended the original run he wrote in the letters page that he imagined snake eyes and Scarlett together in a cabin in the mountains (married in my mind). But now it seems he likes to imagine snake eyes as a Latin American female and Scarlett is left in that cabin alone.

Didn’t that happen in the same issue? Or was it the next?

While ARAH has gotten a little stale and at times it seems Hama is writing it out of obligation rather than passion, its still immensely better than Deadgame was IMHO.

Where on the site is there open discussion about the original marvel run because I just came across something about the fate of cobra la that I never saw in the comics and need to verify it. It is on the honor roll cards in the 1991 impel gijoe collection. While all the canon of the line is taken from the comics, I never saw an earthquake seal away cobra la. I think they were trolling.
