I like how the past few issues have painted something of a parallel world. While Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Scarlett and the "main cast" have been d*cking around with Blue Ninjas and stuff, the rest of GI Joe and Cobra have been having these little conflicts.

The new podcast episode - TALKING JOE episode 118 is now up. Tim and I talk about G.I. Joe issue #278 just a few days after its release with the artist Alex Sanchez!
Podcast links: https://www.talkingjoe.co.uk Audio with images in the YouTube version: We also talk about the G.I. Joe issue that Sanchez drew two years back (251), hear about the Joe Kubert School in the '90s, the unique technique he used in drawing this new issue, Sanchez describing some of his favorite Joe toys, and Tim complains about coloring in modern comics! Does Tim ever NOT complain about something in Joe books?

Pretty cool. I liked the art. Definitely different. I wonder when this was supposed to have taken place? Weird ending, like Special Missions #28. Why's the HAVOC on the deck, anyway?

Yeah, there was no context to explain when it happened, was there? Without context it isn't really an Untold Tale now is it? I wish I could agree with you on the art, but I put Sanchez near the bottom of my ARAH artist ranking. I'm glad others like it, but it is cringeworthy to me.
