So I'm trying the dry brushing technique on the pants to get a denim-like look and...I'm loving this! Thank you Dod Ear. That was a helpful tip!

I'm almost done. I just have a couple of questions, if I may?
First, is a top coat spray absolutely necessary? I think I've asked this before elsewhere, but I wonder if anyone here actually uses it or if I should be okay as-is? Second, should I upload the pictures when I'm finished here or in the Finished Projects section? I don't know the protocol for this, exactly. |

Here's a preview of the final figure. I hope I got the image to show up, okay.

When I first started painting I didn’t seal any of my customs with a spray sealer. Now that I am mostly happy with everything that I paint, I seal them all once compete. You don’t “have” to but it’ll definitely give you a figure that holds up better to handling and dust. I take a ton of pictures so it’s basically a must for me in order to give my stuff some playability. I’ve also heard horror stories of people packing unsealed customs and them coming out of storage or a move in pretty rough shape. If it’s something that is just gonna be placed in a display case and not touched again you can probably get away without sealing it but if it’s in the open, going to be handled a lot or may eventually be packed away for a bit, a sealer is definitely a great idea. A bunch of people on here can give you suggestions on options to use and technique if you decide you want to seal him. It’s how I learned to use them so feel free to ask questions. Some people post their finished customs in standalone threads for each custom in the Finished section, I do all of mine in one big thread which people do also. Really just personal preference. Then if you wanted to do questions or “in progress pics,” updating this thread would be great for that. Most important thing, have fun!

Got the stuff I need for my second custom. It's one based on another miniature which in itself is based on another character I wrote in the same story...this is the main character.
Here are the parts |

Wow, thank you so much! That's really kind of you. I've got other miniatures to make figures from. The hard part is finding the right parts for customs lol
