Someone needs to talk to the Joes about priorities....the Flagg is still burning in the background, and at least Ace is still in the air....but if anyone’s interested, we’re going to pose in front of the HAVOC in five. And if the elevators are days from being repaired, does that mean they keep the HAVOC on the flight deck at all times?

I mean....how easy is it to like...shove Lady Jaye in the back of that Skystriker behind Ace...
Let her spit out some chat bubbles... There is your female contribution. Come on, Larry! It's so easy. |

I wonder what the cost difference is between artists that are super detailed, like Netho Diaz, and other artists who are clearly less skilled and/or experienced. And what is the correlation to sales? That is, if the Diaz issues are more expensive to produce, does that translate into bigger sales? And do less expensive artists result in lower sales and, potentially, a loss in long term readership? I, for one, am nervous about the upcoming Sherlock arc for this very reason. I just hope that after the arc is over we might see a return of Dan Shoening!

I would expect the sales are relatively stable and probably don't vary too much by artist for a particular issue. (So it wouldn't make sense for IDW to pay one artist more and increase their cost when the revenue per issue is relatively stable). Netho Diaz has a "more detailed" style, but he is fast. Robert Atkins was already working on issue 275 when Netho Diaz started issue 276. He completed that and then came back and helped complete issue 275. I think Andrew Griffiths has a fan following and I'm sure many are looking forward to seeing his Joe work. I know I am. That said, Dan Shoening's issue was great and i would love to see him make a return to the book. |

Another great issue!
Fantastic art and really nice use of CG in these panels. This was a great story too. Very OG Special Missions run. Lots of military terminology being thrown around. Remember when Marvel would run 2 Joe comics a month? This issue reminds me of something right out of that late 80s run. Also, I couldnt help but notice that absolutely no female characters were featured here. That is a first. Am I wrong on that? Why couldnt these IDW books have been this solid years ago... Hama is back. Great issue. Check it out any way you can guys. Now onto the book. At no point was there a moment when I felt the Joes were in danger. There wasn't any tension whatsoever. The Lame everyone forgets Ghost Riders name..bit..the Joes outnumbered...and get away with minimal if any damage..I find it fascinating that these cobra airmen etc at some point were in a military somewhere yet are beyond incompetent. At least let the Joes get shot up a bit. His last few books have all been the same very mediocre. I did enjoy the last issue more than this. It was nice to see the snow joes. Saying Hama is back is a bit of a stretch

Read it. I always enjoy a battle between aircraft, but the art just didn't appeal to me.

I would think that IDW has a standard page rate for the book and they would not pay one artist too much of a differential over another.

I’m late to picking this up. Just read it.
Ok. Yep. This art is amazing! It lived up to this threads hype. Just fantastic. |
