The price is more due to it being a small company, with a small number of items being made, with a limited budget for marketing. You can't really compare a mass produced item from a major corporation, and expect the items to be the same price. Why do you think BFS, Action Force, MTF, and Eagle Force figures cost so much more than carded figures by Hasbro?
I think this vehicle is priced well enough to sell, and pay for the Manufacturing of the for tooling. Too bad it will not fund.

Just wait until they redo the kick as a 6" vehicle. How much will it cost then? How big will it be? Huge!

This is a really good point and honestly makes me re-think backing the Nightwolf. The Vamp in 2011 was $24.99, and accounting for inflation that'd make the MSRP roughly $29.66 today.
I get the Nightwolf is modular and fairly big, but is it really double the price of the Vamp MK II big? Would getting rid of the suspension and wench maybe reduce the cost of production? Or is the cost really *just* based on aftermarket prices for the Vamp? That's not getting into how according to the Kickstarter including *all* the modular components is a 40 dollar value. Like, really? I can't see how all of those together are 40 dollars if the Nightwolf itself is 60. Yeah, they need to regroup and rethink the pricing structure. Wayward Goat collectibles marketed it as a collectible, but as far as I can tell this thing is marketed as a toy and 60 (100?) dollars is way too much. Quote:

They're charging what they have to charge. Toys (from small companies) cost more these days than what many would consider "sensible". You're either going to have to reach or walk away. They aren't going to meet you halfway. They can't. The economics are what they are. Most companies would look at these numbers and not even bother.
And Kickstarters that aren't on track to fund always get picked apart and second-guessed. A) It's too late for the project to be restructured and B) Most likely, the advice wouldn't make any damn bit of difference. It's like that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry was trying to get Babu to change his struggling restaurant. VERY BAD MAN! |

It's like that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry was trying to get Babu to change his struggling restaurant. VERY BAD MAN! Indie/boutique companies are working with roughly the same manufacturing costs as the big players in the toy industry, but with much smaller volumes. Production runs of a couple thousand units are the average, compared to 10,000+ unit minimums that Hasbro and Mattel deal in. While this raises the product prices, there is also the flexibility to add more to the items that a bigger company won't care about. Smaller players know the value of things like extra paint apps, accessories, articulation, premium materials and packaging. As for Kickstarter, there are good and bad aspects about the platform. It's not an overly flexible platform once a campaign is in progress. Options and rewards can be added, but that's about it; timing can't be changed, reward prices and funding goals can't be adjusted, and options can't be removed. On the plus side, it's hard to beat the visibility and you can walk away with some solid marketing data even if your campaign doesn't fund. My biggest takeaway from running a "failed" campaign and studying others is to keep a steady stream of updates: product photos, rendering and prototype shots, videos, interacting with Q&A, stretch goals, etc. It's not always an easy task, and definitely an uphill battle when pitching essentially one big ticket offering for a 30 day period.

Well we just need 449 Hiss Tankers to pledge for one nightwolf at $60 to fund this. Unfortunately I don't think there are 449 members left.

I'm sorry that It didn't fund. I'm not surprised at all, and I think most of us expected it to flop. I would have put in, but with Mcfarlane Warhammer, and Classified, I have had to put 1/18 on the back burner for now. Also I understand why it costs so much, but I would be lying if I said that wasn't a turn off. Right now It would be hard to convince me to spend more then 40 on a 1/18 vehicle unless It really kicked ass.
Also the night wolf seemed to be really big for little reason and it looks like it has a lot of wasted space. Over all it seems to be too wide and poorly designed/over complicated. But that's just my opinion |
