That Hawk is great! The face sculpt does sort of resemble a young Dennis Quaid.

Man, your takes on the OG-13 and beyond are stellar, bro! It would be amazing if Hasbro would take a cue from you and build up figures that use the parts and color schemes (okay, most of those are inspired by Hasbro's figures..) that you used! To find figures like that at retail again would get the masses flocking to the toy aisles like they did in the '80s! The latest Hawk (Pit Commander, '84 Concept) is pure win! Kudos!

As for the Dennis Quaid thing, the comparison made me cringe initially. But thinking more about it, he wasn't that bad as Gen Hawk, has a good face for him, and looked good in the first scenes (in the greens prior to the black leather and beret). Quote:

Meanwhile, Modern World OG13 is still being worked on. I'm still waiting for find the right parts, and seeing what JoyToy keeps coming out with (lots a stuff!). Some figures I think are done but the OG13 set works all as one design, and changes to one figure not yet complete may make me totally revise other figures. No timetable really on this though... I think I have everyone assigned to something that closely reflects a modern real world team assembly. The project is equal parts modern look, real world designs, elite team, while mixing in the original 1982 spirit of the figures (uniform look yet individual characters, familiar military aesthetics and weapons). They are all pretty uniform looking right now, and now starting to look at changing up more smaller details and colors subtly, and picking out weapons (looking for a one good realistic/practical and one with more toyetic punch for most of them). The storyline in my head is still in flux, 3 different ideas in play... Currently below is Sgt Graves, Team Leader of Ranger Fireteam 2. Design subject to change as the rest of this fireteam (1 of 2) is completed (rifleman/marksman, automatic, grenadier). 20210323_013314 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr |
