Hasbro always gets tunnel vision when a movie is coming out. No matter what was in the works at the time it gets shelved so they can capitalize on the movie. And they are going to keep pushing the 6" scale hard because of the higher price point. And despite the fact there is more plastic in each figure, I imagine they're easier to tool and quicker to turn out than the 4" which probably yields a greater profit margin. Why else come out with a larger scale figure to begin with.

All that said, I can't do the 6" scale. I'm in this for nostalgia and that shit just isn't what I grew up with.

To me, the colors say "better version of Scarlett than Classified and Classified Redeco." Cover Girl, traditionally, wears more of a uniform or coveralls than Scarlett, so the body armor throws the look off. If the pics are accurate, I'll be happy to replace my Classified Scarlett with the Origins version.

Didn't Bobby Vala say that 1/18th and 1/12 have the same tooling cost, and because of that 1/12 is more cost effective? I think he said something on the lines of that once. Also I am sure they are making a greater profit. 6in Should probably cost around 16-17 and they are able to jack it up to around 20-22.
Even tho Marvel is Disney, Marvel Legends have a lower licensing cost than Star Wars, but instead of opting for extra articulation and detail like GI Joe, they add the Build A Figure part instead. In recent years, however, they have been putting out “square box” figures that aren’t part of a BAF and instead have the extra detail/accessories Last edited by Yeet; 04-12-2021 at 09:25 AM.. |

From what I understand, it also comes down to what the consumers prefer, and both kids and ham-fisted adults prefer larger scales. Apparently, smaller figures like the OG Star Wars, GI Joe: ARAH, MASK, StarCom, Polly Pocket and etc were part of an anomaly and a sort of "fad".

And reasonably sized vehicles and play sets. An overwhelming majority of the old GI JOE vehicles and play sets would be very impractical at a 6" scale. That is the one thing I will miss dearly with the decline of the 1:18 scale.

I know a lot of folks were concerned about Samara Weaving as Scarlett, but if the artwork is any indication, she has a great look at least.

The scale du jour seems to now be 6" across the board for action figures. Just like Classified I think a lot of the figures look great and am hopeful that kids/collectors will pick up these toys and wish the movie success.
I wasn't holding out hope for a 4" scale to accompany this line after seeing the retro line and effort (lack thereof) put into it. I feel that I along with other collectors can legitimately gripe about the retro line but none of us should rain on the parade of our fellow collectors who enjoy the 6" scale. |
